Silver Honey

"The more painful the sting, the sweeter the honey."
— Eldri Ento, gnome expert on insects.
Silver Honey is a unique honey made by the rare Moon Bees and kept in tight honeycombs inside of their well guarded hives. It appears similar to other honeys except for its remarkable silvery color that seems to shine in daylight and almost glow in the moonlight.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Silver Honey is a translucent, silvery liquid that is very thick and viscous and has a very smooth texture.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Aside from having a sweet taste, it is also believed that this honey is partly derived from elemental silver and as such has several healing properties to it.

Geology & Geography

Silver Honey is found throughout the world wherever Moon Bees are living.  All continents are believed to have them, particularly in the temperate climates.

Origin & Source

Silver Honey is produced by Moon Bees who collect nectar and feed almost exclusively on the Moonflower.  This flower is necessary for the bees to produce this particular type of honey.  Studies by Eldri Ennis Ento, the gnome expert on insects, suggest that the silver taken in by the flower is processed and transferred to the bee who in turn changes it and passes it along in some form into the honey.  This may explain some of the unusual health properties of the honey.

History & Usage

Everyday use

Silver Honey has many practical uses in cooking, food preparation, and flavoring, in addition to being eaten raw or as a topping for other foods. Many drinks add the honey to them for sweeteners and fermenting the honey can even produce Moon Mead.   Since ancient times many people have used the honey as salves and on dressings due to its antibacterial healing properties. Seasonal allergies are eliminated after drinking hot teas made with this honey and even some diseases and sickness seem to be cured quickly after ingesting this unique honey.  Recently this honey has been rediscovered by Eldri Ento, as a preventative means to stave off lycanthropy and as a potential ingredient in lycanthropy cures.

Refinement

A quick filtering and cleaning process is all that is really necessary to ready this material for consumption.

Distribution

Trade & Market

Silver Honey can be found for sale in an unusual variety of locations. Farm stands and grocers are most likely to have this on hand, but due to its rumored healing abilities and properties it can also be found at apothecaries, healers, and even some magical shops.

Storage

Due to the honey’s composition and chemical properties it can be stored for a very long time. As long as it is in a sealed container without moisture it can last indefinitely. In this way, the honey and objects submerged in the honey can effectively be preserved for centuries.
