Shadowfolk
"Shadowfolk"
Shadowfolk is the name given to the humanoids who were taken over by and had their DNA fused to the denizens of the shadow plane, that came through The Shadow Rift. They appear almost identical to their former selves, and depending on the level of gene blending, may exhibit some character changes and physiological changes. A keen eye can see that the shadowfolk look as if they are standing in a shadow, with muted colors and hazy edges. The iris of the eyes turns black and they have an aversion to sunlight and bright lights in general. Prolonged exposure to direct, bright sunlight, causes cellular damage. Their personality also takes on a more sinister approach and they seem to be working towards some dark, unspoken goal.
When the fusion occurs with the shadow beings, the genes and mind of the host, are blended with that of the shadow being. When the mind of the newly formed shadowfolk does not successfully blend, it quickly becomes highly irrational and insane. Those with a successful mind blending, quickly succumb to their darker ambitions and impulses and fall more in line with the agenda of the shadow beings. These become a true combination of shadow being and host. A rare few can resist and fight the mind blending, maintaining their personality traits and also having access to the shadow being’s abilities. For these, a daily fight is required to keep their minds in control and their days are usually spent searching for a way to be rid of the alien presence.

Geographic Origin and Distribution
Mainly found in the town of Morkrets and radiating outwards from there.
Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms
Shadow beings from the plane of shadow, entered through the The Shadow Rift and took over and blended with the inhabitants of the town of Morkrets. The newly blended became known as the Shadowfolk.
