Fro’ Igi

The Fro' Igi is an arcane term used to refer to and describe all spell casters, wizards, sorcerers, and the like, who have chosen to focus their magical training on the new magical school of cold magic. With this focus in cold, they have also given up all spells related to heat and fire, as well as many others.

Career

Qualifications

As with all wizards, high intelligence, determination, perseverance, diligence, force of will, and work ethic are required to become the lowest of spell casters.  Those wishing to specialize almost always need formal training in an academy or an apprenticeship.

Career Progression

There are four different levels to Fro' Igi specialization and anyone in any of the four levels could technically be considered a Fro' Igi or a cold specialist spell caster.  The four level are the same for other specialists and upon attaining each level there are increased bonuses as well as increased restrictions.  The four levels in ascending specialization are Con’ Ligere, Prae’ Sertim, Ar’ Cere, and So’ Lum.   Any new spell caster may start at any level as part of their training or apprenticeship.  If they want to change levels later on, then they must undergo a rare and powerful and dangerous ritual, that will result in loss of memory and perhaps even loss of intelligence, madness or even death may occur as well.  All prospective school specialists that begin training at Con' Ligere may change without ritual or penalty if doing so before being able to cast mid level spells.

Perception

Social Status

Most magical groups that specialize in cold magic usually go unnoticed throughout society, or at least seem no different than other wizards going about their daily business.  However, since the Winter Wizards decimated the north, people have been particularly watchful for anyone using cold magic and the public fear has once again driven a wedge between those with magical abilities and those without.

History

Initially an overlooked and often scoffed at magical focus that wasn't useful until the winter months, quickly became a serious threat and force to be reckoned with, when Cryosis, the original Winter Wizard and the subsequent Winter Wizards dominated the north and several midrange cities and kingdoms.  After they were defeated, most areas banned all cold magic specialists and deemed all cold based spells as illegal.

Operations

Workplace

Typically these spell casters live in the far north or far south polar areas, but can also be found in high altitude mountainous areas where access to ice and cold is easy to come by.
Alternative Names:   Wizards who have chosen to specialize in the new magical school focus of “Cold” have come to be known by many names. These include Frost Wizards, Ice Wizards, Cold Wizards, Cryomancers, and Cryourges, among others. These titles or names usually imply a singular wizard, although some may join together for common purposes.  The Winter Wizards are a different story altogether and are perhaps the most famous or infamous of them all.  Anyone taking this title or name is to be considered both a specialist in cold magic and a dangerous member of the organization.

Legality
Although spell casters of various sorts have always been to some degree scapegoats, outlaws, the condemned, and the accused, many cities and governments have tolerated a modicum of there presence.  Few specific focuses of magical study have been outright banned, deemed forbidden, or considered illegal.  The Fro' Igi and all other "Cold" school focused spell casters are just the latest magical group to be classified as illegal.
Aren’t you all going a bit overboard with all of the spell banning?   No! Absolutely not. As you well know, the Queen has stated publically, that cold spells are just slow death and as such have no place in civilized society. Anyone thought to be using these death magics is to be arrested immediately. Dead or alive! Am I clear on the matter?
