Domus Liber
"Domus Liber"
The Domus Liber is a series of libraries scattered through out the realms. Their task is to gather history, information, and knowledge and safeguard it from being lost to time. These facilities are always in search of new lore and will pay handsomely for newly discovered books, tomes, and scrolls.
The library is run by a head caretaker and several categories of assistants, including several: Hera, Promus, Ancilla, Chroniclers, and Scribes.
Purpose / Function
This building serves as one of the storage facilities for history, science, magic, and knowledge of the realms.
Sensory & Appearance
A soft light fills the area, and is provided by candles and windows, and smells of parchment, books, ink, and preservatives.
Denizens
The area is usually frequented by scholars, caretakers, and those looking for information.
Contents & Furnishings
The room is periodically broken up by shelves, cabinets, desks, chairs, and well lit reading areas.
Valuables
Knowledge and information in various books, tomes, scrolls, and maps are stored here. Only the caretaker has and can read the Codex Cognitio .
Architecture
Built of stone and being short and squat, so as to be resistance to fire, weather, and attacks. The library is often built down instead of upward. This not only helps to regulate temperature and humidity but also makes the building look unimportant and hopefully overlooked as a target of destruction.
