Ereshkigal

Ereshkigal was a black greatwyrm, leader of the Onyx Flight during the Drachomachy, and the progenitor of the Drak Pralora. Chosen by Tiamat to lead the black dragons during their attempted conquest of the plane, Ereshkigal harbored an intense jealousy toward the rest of the Dragon Queen's chosen, believing himself to be the only one worthy of their queen's favor.

Personal history

The black greatwyrm Ereshkigal was mortally wounded during the final battle of the Dracomachy, his power greatly weakened following the destruction of his Dragon Soul in an earlier conflict. Following the ultimate battle, Ereshkigal's flight spirited their champion to the far north, into the swamps of Innulthac.

Even the wisest among his brethren could not undo the damage inflicted upon their lord. As he lay dying, Ereshkigal commanded his flight to enact vengeance upon the mortal races that dared to oppose the dragons. His flight, though few in number and still licking their wounds, nevertheless swore an oath to lay waste to the kingdoms of mortals. The remaining black dragons spread across the north of Divostra, though infighting and a lack of unifying leadership meant full-scale warfare never materialized. With what remained of his power, Ereshkigal spawned the black dragonborn that became the Drak Pralora, whose civilzation proceeded to spread across the northern continent.
