Odin's Guard
Odin's Guard is a small but elite unit consisting of 8 highly trained necromancers. They rotate in shifts of 2, defending the pass that leads to the tree of life.
Honored members of Life's Revolt, these potent spell casters are the last line of defense if the other myriad of traps, guards, mazes, and magic are defeated or out maneuvered. Training their entire lives for the eventuality that their defenses fail, they spend there time training to guard the tree when they are not on shift. All 8 current members have performed rituals extending their life indefinitely in order to better protect the tree.

Odin's Guard answers only to Borg.
Tactics
Each guard practices a particular form of necromancy, specializing in different dark magic in order to complement the group.
Training
Training is continuous, only subsiding for sleep, sustenance, and guard duty. There are 4 out buildings just outside the mountain pass, each with different magical wards and training equipment, allowing all 8 guards to spar simultaneously. This would never happen as two guards must remain in the pass at all times, but the capability is ther.

Logistical Support
Acolytes of Life's Revolt bring needed supplies up to the mountain pass each morning and evening, allowing the guards to focus on their training instead of on basic needs.
Recruitment
No Odin's Guard has fallen in 500 years, making the need for recruitment obsolete.
History
The first Odin's Guard where hand picked by Odin after the cataclysm. Before the great sacrifice the war was more chaotic and many Odin's Guard died in the trees defense. After Life's Revolts last stand, the combination of the Odyllic Mountains and Black Desert brought fighting in the immediate area of the tree to a stalemate, pushing back the forces against them. Over time, the guard realized they where likely to die natural deaths instead of virtuous deaths guarding the tree. They eventually studied and developed rituals to extend their natural life, so their years of training would not be wasted.
Historical loyalties
Odin's Guard is completely devoted to Life's Revolt, created from their most zealous but patient members. Going so far as to court immortality and its drawbacks so that they can train longer, and better defend the sacred tree.
