Dejnus III (Die-nuss)

Dejnus III Kolsagar va'Deijen-Axxanitai, often known simply as Dejnus rex, Dejnus Ferraxes or by the epithet Kolsagar, was the founder and first Godspeaker-Emperor of the Holy Dinoranian Empire.

Early Life

Born in Axxan during the Eijaddar Regency, Dejnus was the third of the Prophetic Line to be given the name of the Prophet himself, Tiuscized to Dejnus or Deienus. He was the illegitimate son of the Ascanian Priest Antaphon Eisrevder va’Deijen-Axxanitai and an unknown woman, and was not given a name. Ashamed of his son's conception, Antaphon sent the boy to an orphanage when he was two, concealing his fatherhood and claiming that the boy's mother had died giving birth to him (in a manner similar to the death of Mater Derica). He was quickly adopted by Vigidriya, the wife of a Dinoranian soldier. The couple, believing the Priest's lie, named him Dejnus, after the Esperite Prophet, the birth of whom had also taken the life of his mother St Dericeis. At eleven, with no other options for his education, Dejnus was sent to the Axxan Martial Temple to enter the rigorous intellectual and physical training that his adoptive father had endured. The Temple had historically only accepted the wealthy sons of Dinoranian Nobility, and only offered ten spots to the children of commoners, in line with the Deijenic tradition. Even so, those that were chosen to fill these obligatory spots were given very little attention from their teachers, and were often beaten and forced to conduct menial duties such as sweeping the temple steps and feeding the horses. Dejnus was one of the ten commoners accepted into the 1014 Heyd (Batch).   Dejnus grew up incredibly lonely. Though he was a committed student at the Temple, he was often ridiculed and ostracized by his peers for his background.

Ascent to Power

The Rise of Ascania

The Deijens of Ascany (House va’Deijen-Axxanitai) were an influential family in the short-lived Eijad Empire. The City of Axxan had a brief age of cultural and economic prosperity during the days of the Askaronate, but had since fallen into relative obscurity compared to the rest of the Tiusk city-states.   Dejnus was quickly re-adopted by the House in secret, and he became   Through Dejnus III, the third Dinoraenic royal to bear the name of the prophet. His immediate family, known as the Ascanian Devode, allied itself with the Irshima and Eselstam Devodes of the Westtiusk House of Verrell-Esid, in addition to the Deijenic Devode va'Deijen-Rutika. The Tirdevodan ('of Four Devodes') Alliance, as it was called, rested on unsteady footing, and Dejnus was often relied on as a keystone uniting factor.
