House of Deijen (die-yenn)

The Prophetic Line of the House of Deijen (Deijenitai, formally Ithalrenn Auspheroni Deijenitai) is an ancient family of descendants of the Prophet Deijen. The Prophet's House has, over the course of 5000 years, splintered into thousands of regional sub-families, known as Devodes, many of which have held political and economic power on the Dinoranian Continent.

Lineage and unique characteristics

The House of Deijen, descended from the Aujenid Dynasty of Holy Dinòra, is the first and foremost of the Seventeen Highblood Lines of Dinòra, which also include the House of Ljon and the House of Veirel, two important houses founded by Wiljem Ljon and Auron Veirel respectively, two of Deijen's highblood companions. Due to the nature of Aujen I's 'sanguine divergence,' the Quality of Deijenic High-blood is distinct from that of his companions, having a boiling point of roughly 15000K, and possessing an intrinsic Elluric Field generated by Dinoranium Isotope-containing Dinoroglobin, unique to the Aujenid Dynasty. This field persists in the blood at a minimum of 13 mXe (millixerac), and has been known to exceed 10 Xe in cases of Deijenic Ellurites, such as the Emperor Dejnus III of the Devode of Ascany, and, most importantly, in the Prophet himself. This intrinsic Elluric Affinity has resulted in the development of all three categories of Ellurosis in descendants of the Prophet.

The Sijan Proof

Taking advantage of its boiling point, the Proof of Prophetic Lineage has, for the 5000 years of its existence, been traditionally conducted at Mount Sjausung, an active volcano in Eastern Dinorania. A sample of blood taken from the alleged heir would be placed into a traditional implement called a katuc siji, a kind of heavy granite bowl, and lowered into the volcanic pit. If the blood did not come back boiled, the pretender was a Deijen. If it did, he was a pretender, and, in line with tradition, he or she would be thrown into the volcano for violating the sanctity of the Deijenic Line. The Proof was named the Sijan, after the granite pot.   In recent times, biometric analysts can detect the ellurotic genes and blood proteins distinguishing the descendant, and can also detect the elluric field using a Phosometer, but the Coronation of Darien XI in 1981 involved a traditional ceremony at Mount Sjasung to verify his ancestry.

Notable members

Many men and women have proved their belonging to the Divine House of the First Prophet. The following is a list of significant claimants throughout history:
  • Darian II, founder of Modern Espiritism (0 - 125)
  • Dejnus III, Holy Dinoranian Emperor (1003 - 1214)
  • Darien XI, Ausker (Emperor) of the Neo-Dinoranian Empire (1909 - )
This is not a comprehensive list, as the true number of prophetic descendants throughout history theoretically numbers in the hundreds of thousands. There are several hundred devodes known to scholars, many having gone extinct since the Prophetic Age.
