The Great Equatorial Desert

The Great Equatorial Desert (Therasti Da Ekwatta) lies at and just south of the equator of Derkomai, north of the Great Southern Range and east of The Great Western Mountains. At the far west of the desert, at the base of the mountains lies the desert kingdom, Da Therasti Okku. The northern boundary of the Great Equatorial Desert is formed by the West Hills and Central Hills and the vast grasslands of The Steppe. A small river, the Desert River, flows out of the West Hills and southern part of the Steppe into a shallow, brackish lake, Okkudo Lok, which is fed by the river, some smaller rivers and streams, and salt springs. On the northern shore of the lake lies Okkudo, the capital of Da Therasti Okku. The Desert River flows out of Okkudo Lok to the south. From there it continues to the southeast along the northern base of the Great Southern Range.
The Great Equatorial Desert gets progressively less arid toward the east. It's eastern boundary is the Long River, which flows out of The Great Desert Lake. The kingdoms of Da Nis Grissyond Okku and Da Azmi Grissyund Okku lie on the shores of the Great Desert Lake.
The central area of the Great Equatorial Desert is utterly arid, a vast wasteland of sand for hundreds of miles. Almost nothing grows there, and it is completely devoid of animal life. Towering sand dunes march across the desert. Giant sandstorms blow out of the desert into Senyon, dumping tons of sand and dust, blinding and choking inhabitants, but enriching the soil, making the plains in the southwest of Senyon among the most fertile farmlands on all of Derkomai.
