Dragon's Breath

Dragon's Breath is the name given to gas collected from naturally-occuring gas seeps in mountainous areas of Derkomai, especially in Nodyund, Senyon, Rigosland, and Chessa. It primarily consists of methane, with some ethane and other compounds.

Dragon's Breath is a (typically) colorless and odorless gas that seeps from natural wells that occur throughout Derkomai. It is used at the center of worship rites by members of The Forge of Honlengshe honoring the Safirim Honlengshe. The largest Forge is located at Okkudo, capital of Da Therasti Okku, which features an eternal flame of Dragon's Breath collected from a naturally occuring seep located under the building.
In Nodminto, Rigosland, Senyon, and Chessa, Dragon's Breath is collected in pipes and used to heat forges, royal palaces, and other important structures. The collection of Dragon's Breath skirts very close to running afoul of the strictures of the Praxis Illicitus, and monks of the The Vestry of Valamarashe monitor the collection of Dragon's Breath cloesly. This frequently puts them at odds with the adherents of The Forge of Honlengshe, and violent conflicts between the two groups have occured with some regularity.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Dragon's Breath (natural gas) burns easily with little smoke, but does give off combustion byproducts that can be harmful. Most Dragon's Breath collected is colorless and odorless.

Geology & Geography

Natural seeps of Dragon's Breath occur mostly in volcanic mountainous regions, but may occur in other areas. The natural seep of Dragon's Breath under the The Forge of Honlengshe in Okkudo comes from pockets of subsurface gas trapped beneath the temple coming to the surface through cracks in the bedrock.
