The Ring of Angels

A powerful ring of the Archangels of Rothos

Written by moonflower-writing

The Ring of Angels is an ancient artifact that appeared at the same time Angels and Demons appeared, along with it's infernal counterpart: the Ring of Demons.   The Ring of Angels is bestowed upon each Archangel of Rothos during the ceremony that raises them to the rank of Archangel.   The Ring of Angels is known to have some sort of extremely powerful magic attached to it, but the way of activating the magic - and even what the magic does - has been lost knowledge for many millenium.   The Ring of Angels is made of a dark gray metal known to be an alloy of iron and nickel, but the alloy is unable to be reproduced by any metalsmith in Rothos. It has a periwinkle-colored, pear-cut gemstone set on the top of the ring.   This ring is normally worn on a fine, platinum spiga chain around the neck of the Archangel. By Rothos' laws, the Archangel is not permitted to grant anyone but themselves direct access to the Ring of Angels.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Not much is known about the inner workings of the Ring of Angels, but it is known that the Ring contains vast amounts of extremely powerful magic concentrated on the periwinkle-colored, pear-cut gemstone at the top of the ring.

Manufacturing process

The manufacturing process used to create the Ring of Angels is a complete mystery to all but the Gods themselves.

Significance

The Ring of Angels is the marker of the Rank of Archangel. It is also thought to be a representation of the entire race of Angels.   Very little is known about the usage of the Ring of Angels, but it is known to have powerful magic like nothing the examiners had ever seen before attached to it. Not a single soul knows how to activate the magic of the Ring of Angels.

A very interesting artifact! Since it's marked as unique does that mean one has fallen into mortal hands? With so much unknown about it, I'd be interested to hear what some of the rumours are as to its powers or how it works.

Unique means that there's only one in existence. But, as the Angels in my story are, in fact, mortal, though very long-lived, the answer to that could be "yes". I have secrets on what it does and how it works, but I will try to come up with some rumors soon

Cool artifact! Are the angels, Archangel, and others actual "angels" or is that just the name of a high ranking official? Are they a religious order? If so, religious texts about the ring could provide a neat way to include some rumors on how the ring works (even if they aren't actually true). Love what is written so far!

Angels are a race of winged humanoids on Delmenia, so they could be considered actual "Angels". An "Archangel" is the leader of the nation of Rothos (a nation dominated by the race of Angels)

It is a very interestingly shaped artifact, however aside that it is a symbol of power/rank within the angel hierarchy there is not a lot said about this artifact. With "Mechanics and Inner workings", "Manufactoring process" and "Significance" you seem to be repeating yourself from what you had said earlier. I would suggest to cut that information from the first section. Even if it is not known for your players if you are playing a TTrpg or writing a book for the readers, however write this article so you know what this artifact does and how it was created that will give you way more information that you can use in the rest of your worldbuilding. I hope this feedback will help you improve your writing :D

A lot of that stuff is in "secrets", and I repeated myself for a reason (repetition = reminder to me that it's in secrets). But, I will keep this in mind for when I come back to this article to develop it more.
