It serves as the eastern counterpart to the Tower of Artanar] in @[Keltia, yet it operates under a distinctly different cultural and philosophical framework. The @Arcaneprovides a loose structure connecting the two towers, but each retains significant autonomy, shaped by the priorities of their respective societies. The Obsidian Spire is primarily staffed and governed by Dragonborn mages, scholars, and sorcerers. Given the cultural importance of magic and the deep historical connection between the dragonborn and the Dream Plane, the tower's focus is heavily influenced by draconic tradition and the legacies of Nes Diaz and Volthaarius. The Spire's mages prioritize unrestricted magical experimentation, delving into ancient draconic magics, planar studies, and the mysteries surrounding the disappearance of Volthaarius. One of their primary areas of focus is the Plane of Dreams, particularly the phenomenon of "The Silence" — the absence of dreams since Volthaarius vanished from the world.
The Obsidian Spire is governed by the Council of the Spire, a group of seven senior mages and scholars who oversee the tower’s research and policy decisions. The council is balanced between members aligned with Inheritor ideals and those who favor the Mortalist philosophy, reflecting the cultural divide within the tower. The council’s leadership rotates every five years, with a High Magister elected from among its members.
