The Maker

The Maker Apollyon (a.k.a. The Angel of the Abyss)

Humanity cried out in their heart that we will ascend to the heavens. That we will take up the throne and rise above the Maker. But first all shall be brought low and great fire shall be brought upon the earth. We shall be brought down to nothing. For first there is destruction and from those ashes new things born.

Divine Domains

Tempest Domain

Gods whose portfolios include the Tempest domain govern storms, sea, and sky. They include gods of lightning and thunder, gods of earthquakes, some fire gods, and certain gods of violence, physical strength, and courage. In some pantheons, a god of this domain rules over other deities and is known for swift justice delivered by thunderbolts. In the pantheons of seafaring people, gods of this domain are ocean deities and the patrons of sailors. Tempest gods send their clerics to inspire fear in the common folk, either to keep those folk on the path of righteousness or to encourage them to offer sacrifices of propitiation to ward off divine wrath.
-5e Basic Rules, Clerics: Divine Domains

He is a god of fire known for his physical strength and violence which he weilds as a tool to render material into its most basic forms. Fire storms and the rending of flesh are two of his favored methods.

Blood Domain

The Blood Domain centers around the understanding of the natural life force as it exists within the body, and the divine conduit it can become. Those who take up this domain understand that the power of blood is the power of sacrifice, the balance of life and death, and the spirit’s anchor within the mortal shell. Gods who grant the power of the Blood Domain direct their followers to tap into the connection between body and soul, exploit the hidden reserves of will within one’s own vitality, and corrupt the bodies of others through the secret rites of hemocraft. Clerics of good gods use hemocraft to fill their self-sacrifice with purpose and power, while clerics with fewer morals use the blood of others to achieve their own malevolent ends.
-5e Basic Rules, Clerics: Divine Domains

The body is just another tool to be shaped and molded to serve the purpose of the mind that wields it. Mastery over the self is mastery over the body including the ability to demand that it become what you desire it to be.

Holy Books & Codes

Hope's Purpose is considered the holy scripture for the Maker. However, the Bible is also regarded to have be the truth for the Time Before. But it is not considered to be that relevant given that the age that it was speaking to has passed.

The Avatar

The Avatar of the Maker is generally depicited as a man with tentacles coming from his back. He is always depicted with his mouth open. It is believed that his plague army spews from his mouth. He is seen as being made of coal and fire. His body covered with fire and ash. This is a reminder that all of material existence is impermanent, comes to an end burning in time and becoming ash. From the remnants of fire, new life is born and the world is remade into something new. Destruction leads into Creation and these two processes are Divinely connected.
This is the form that the Maker uses when he is interacting with those mortals that he has blessed and has considered to have the potential to join the ranks of the Makers.

The Burning Coil

The Burning Coil is described as a mass of tentacles that are tangled around a cluster of burning embers. In this form, he is the Destoyer. His every movement creates choas and destruction. The vibrations of his tentacles carry the true names of all the things within the world, commanding them to become something other then what they are. Demanding that they change or burn.

Revelations

Immediately after the fifth angel blew his trumpet, a star fell from the sky to the earth. This star opened the Abyss, unleashing a battalion of demonic soldiers: a plague prepared for battle. The opening of the Abyss unleashed hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was hurled down on the earth. A third of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up. Something like a huge mountain, all ablaze, was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned into blood, a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed. This is the beginning of the end in which The Maker and his plague was unleashed. He began the cleansing of the whole earth to make way for a new heaven and a new earth.

A Fallen Angel

Apollyon is a fallen angel from the Cherubim choir. According to ancient tradition, the cherubs were the second of the nine choirs of angels. Their name means “fullness of wisdom” in Hebrew and they adored the Most High in His omniscient wisdom. But all of Heaven has fallen and the Old God is dead. The four Horsemen rode on the Maelstrom and slaughtered all the angels and the submitting old god, then deposited the corpse in the Plaguemere to rot, where it remains to this day. The other three Horsemen returned to the Maelstrom, their purpose served. That left Apollyon the Horseman of Pestilence to rule the Earth as the new Maker.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

The Maker's purpose is the remaking of the world. The Time Before and the Old God could no longer be sustained. It crumbled beneath its own might. From the Maelstrom created by this crumbling, the four Horsemen were summoned by the dying Old God to reclaim the world for something new. Now it is Apollyon's purpose to make something from the ashes, muck and mire of all that has been destroyed. He watches and waits for those who shall rise up and claim the empty realm of Godhood by Naming themselves and taking command of creation.

Cherub Plague Bringer

The Cherubs were made of many things. In Ezekiel 1:5–11 they are described as having the likeness of a man, and having four faces: that of a man, a lion (on the right side), and ox (on the left side), and an eagle. These faces peer out from the center of an array of four wings; these wings are joined to each other, two of these are stretched upward, and the other two cover their bodies. Under their wings are human hands; their legs are described as straight, and their feet like those of a calf, shining like polished brass. Between the creatures glowing coals that moved between them could be seen, their fire "went up and down", and lightning burst forth from it. The cherubs also moved like flashes of lightning.

During the Fall, Apollyon mounted The Horse of Pestilence and with this loosed a virus that would shape the world into his likeness. He merged humanity with animals and woke within living things the ability to command the River. There are those that believe he created the plague in an effort to restore the cherubim choir that was lost during the Fall and that he had been cast away from long before. Perhaps now he could not only rejoin their ranks but could rule above them as their creator and Maker.
