Profit with purpose, power with precision.

The Clockwork Syndicate operates as the economic backbone of Dark Syde, seamlessly blending pragmatism with ambition. Tasked with governing trade, commerce, and resource allocation, the Syndicate ensures that the camp thrives amidst the chaos of the wastelands. Their operations are rooted in principles of efficiency and calculated risk, mirroring the structure and authority of the Covenant Council while maintaining their autonomy in business affairs. Driven by a dual purpose—securing wealth and power for the camp as well as themselves—the Syndicate is both respected and resented for its critical role. Though ultimately accountable to the Covenant Council, they enjoy significant latitude to manage economic matters as they see fit, ensuring their dominance over Dark Syde’s lifeblood: trade and resources. For many, the Clockwork Syndicate embodies the delicate balance between survival and ambition in a world rebuilt from ruin.

You step into the heart of the Dark Syde's territory, and it feels as though you've wandered into a mechanical dream—or a nightmare, depending on your perspective. The air is thick with the scent of oil and molten metal, mingling with the sharp tang of freshly printed banknotes and the aroma of exotic spices wafting from nearby market stalls. The towering, clockwork edifices loom above you, intricate gears and pistons whirring with unrelenting precision. Lights flicker within their brass and steel frames, casting golden glows onto cobblestone streets lined with traders shouting over each other to sell their wares.

Your eyes are drawn to the massive central structure: a towering mechanism of gleaming brass and blackened iron, with a colossal clock face dominating its façade. Its hands tick steadily, a reminder of the Syndicate's unyielding march toward profit and order. Below, steam hisses from pipes, and a small train rumbles along a canal, delivering goods to an endless stream of eager merchants. The people here move with purpose, dressed in sharp suits or tailored work attire, their expressions a mixture of ambition and calculation. Even as you marvel at the grandeur, you can't shake the feeling that every cog and screw, every deal and handshake, is part of a machine far greater than you—a machine that would swallow you whole if you faltered.

Negative Biases

They dislike those who are not involved in business. This bias trigger for any character that doesn't have a registered business in Dark Syde.

Allies

The Clockwork Syndicate is very interested in ensuring that the Veil Walkers are enforcing laws in their favor. After all, Dark Syde needs strong business if it is going to survive. Because of this, the Clockwork Syndicate does what it can to maintain favor with the Veil Walkers. Over time, this has created a situation where these two factions generally work toward shared goals.

To date, these two factions have never had any conflicts between them. Nor have they had any reason to work together to achieve their goals.

Neutral

The Rust Keepers generally don't register their businesses and because of this are not always held to the same business standards as the Clockwork Syndicate.

Enemies
