Scribner's Lens

Lens Daily Effects 

Once per a day, the lens can be activated to generate one of the following effects:

Channel Tiger

You gain advantage on Charisma and Intelligence checks, both of which are lost when the spell ends. Takes an action to activate the ability. Requires concentration and can last up to 5 minutes.

Comprehension

You understand the literal meaning of any spoken or written language that you hear or see. This effect doesn’t decode secret messages in a text or a glyph, such as an arcane sigil, that isn’t part of a written language. Takes an action to activate the ability. Requires concentration and can last up to 1 hour.

Communication

You gain the ability to comprehend and verbally communicate with a creature that cannot communicate via language; this includes plants and zombies. The knowledge and awareness of creatures are limited by their intelligence. You might be able to persuade a beast to perform a small favor for you, at the GM’s discretion.

Locate

You concentrate on an object, person or record within the Scribe's holdings. After using an action to activate the ability, you are provided the direction to the target’s location, as long as that target’s location is within the holdings of the Scribes. If it is an item that would normally be within their holdings, but is currently on loan, you will be given only who the target has been loaned to.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

These are a small battery powered computer that provided access to a data base of language and communication information that you can use to better communicate with others. It also gives you access to the Scribe Index which lists every item and person within the Scribe's holdings.

Significance

These are a symbol of authority and respect within Camp Hope. Those who have been provided with a Scribner's Lens are considered to be trust worthy of handling records.
