Description
Juniper Trotwell is a sturdy, no-nonsense draft mare with a cinnamon coat, soot-dusted apron, and a knack for turning the most questionable scavenged ingredients into something hearty and satisfying. Her kitchen is a kingdom of controlled chaos where the clang of pots and the hiss of steam are a comforting rhythm, and she runs it with the same calm authority she uses to shoo off drunken patrons or negotiate barter deals with spice smugglers. Beneath her gruff exterior is a deep care for the Enclave and its people—she remembers every regular’s favorite meal and makes sure no one leaves hungry if she can help it.
Ideals
Juniper believes that food is a form of care and dignity, and no one—traveler or local—should go hungry under her roof.
Bonds
Juniper keeps an old, soot-stained apron once belonging to her late mentor, a gruff badger-chef named Grizzlepan, and talks to it when the kitchen gets too quiet.
Flaws
Juniper is fiercely stubborn in the kitchen and refuses to take advice or change a recipe, even when it’s clearly not working.
Suggested Environments
The Enclave
VIG 8 and SAN 15
Whispers of the Drain
You know the hidden paths and signs used by the Enclave. While in or beneath a settlement, you can always find a hidden route to avoid notice, smuggle items or creatures, or deliver messages to other Enclave agents. You also gain advantage on Deception checks when interacting with surface dwellers unfamiliar with the Awakened.
Speed.
When on fours, your speed increases to 40. You can move at a gallop for an hour, covering twice the distance for a fast pace (see Travel Pace).
Balance.
You have advantage with all saving throws to prevent from being knocked prone.
The Finger Bone’s Connected to the Leg Bone.
Your natural melee attack deals bludgeoning rather than slashing damage. You have advantage when trying to maintain a grip on something with your hands, but disadvantage on actions that require fine manual dexterity.
Mount.
You can also act as a mount for any creature up to your Size. If you are Large and your rider is also Large, your speed is reduced to 30 ft.
