Elves are ethereal creatures with long ears and a connection to nature.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The elves are a humanoid species. The thing that differenciates them from humans are that they are taller, more flexible, thinner and their eyes and ears are more evolved.

Genetics and Reproduction

Because of their long lifespans and slow growth rate, they have some difficulties reproducing. A successful pregnancy can take years to achieve, but for the elves that time is not too long and they as a species is used to the many tries it takes.

Growth Rate & Stages

Elves grow very slow. When they are born they grow at about the same rate as humans, but after 10 years their growth slows down. After that it takes about 200 years for them to become adults, and after that they usually start to show signs of old age at around 3000 years.
Some elves are miserable, living for too long as they say. Even though they are blessed with good health in their older years, the world just goes on and some are tiring of the whole "eternal being"-thing.

Ecology and Habitats

Elves come from the deep woods, and that's where many of them still likes to be. They live around nature, so you won't see any in the desert or arctic.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Elves are omnivores. They eat a lot of greens and hunt animals for food. Elves have natural green fingers, so they can grow a lot of greens, almost all year round. They are very excellent hunters, with their light and quick steps, supreme hearing and sight. Storage is usually up in the trees where it is more protectable and more difficult for others to reach.

Because of their long lives, they have time to gain a lot of wisdom. Their connection to nature gives them a kind of hidden knowledge, like hearing whispers from the trees.

They have excellent hearing and very good sight. Elves have a connection to nature, they can feel some kind of force from it.

A cult among them call for some kind of ritual/mass suicide after a certain age, when many other mortal beings are fading away. They are not accepted in most elven kingdoms, but there are places where they have gotten a steady grip on their societies.
