The Flaming Serpent

The Flaming Serpent is a medium-sized merchant carrack ship. It is captained by Qalif al-Abdal after a mutiny took place to remove the previous captain who had been plagued by a curse or infection (likely the vorruc). The boatswain is Barbaros Pasha , cooper Thamir al-Khan, and additional deckhands Youssef al-Khan and Taiseer ta-Reza. The ship has been without work for some time, due both to the captain's alcoholism and the new disease known as Sponge Blood.   There has been talk recently of the ship accepting a contract from Gideon's under the stewardship of Qadim U-Kathiib as the representative for the contract; moving a shipment of firearms to Myr Soriah.

The Crew

  • Captain - Qalif al-Abdal - "Captain Thinhair" - the captain of the ship who took over after the previous owner was found to be some type of 'creature' (as defined by the crew) and was killed in a mutiny. Qalif is a recovering drunkard, but has good intentions for himself and his crew. - "Captain Thinhair", the ship's captain who took over after the previous owner was found to be some type of 'creature' (as defined by the crew) and was killed in a mutiny. • Boatswain - Barbaros Pasha - Aspiring Quartermaster.  Barbaros has been loyal to the captain since the mutiny and helping the crew view one another as family.  He is aspring to become the quartermaster, near the captain's equal, particularly with his recent responsibilities aboard the ship.
  • Cooper - Thamir al-Khan - the carpenter and second in command under Barbaros.  He specializes in ship repairs and woodwork.
  • Rigger/deckhand - Youssef al-Khan - manages sails and crow's nest (upper sails as there is no propper crow's nest on the Serpent).  Brother of Thamir.
  • Deckhand - Taiseer ta-Reza - The last of the deckhands that stuck around after work ran dry for the ship, a dubious schemer that is loyal but frequently a troublemaker.
