Aredhel ferch Maglor, the Dragon Queen

Aredhel ferch Maglor, Daughter of Mighty Cerridwen, Supreme Sorceress of Albion, Queen of the Fiery Death, is a beautiful but wicked woman, comes from the Elven Isles. As is the case with all the half-human children of the elf king Maglor, she is doomed to bring misery to all those she holds dear in this life. She responds to this doom by remaining aloof from everyone and everything around her. Following the assassination of her husband, Gwawl ap Gwrgon, by rival nobles from Penrhyn Llŷn, at the behest of the Brenin of Gwynedd, she moved quickly to strike back, summoning a great dragon first glimpsed by the Wizard Myrddin Emrys.

Although she has lived a lifetime by human reckoning, her elfin blood and magical salves and potions gives her a youthful appearance. Many of those who serve her are young men who are hopelessly in love with her, an advantage she cultivates. While she calls on the power of the dragon, Uchdryd Goch, she does so only to fight her enemies, never overtly to oppress her own people. Likewise, her use of the goblins of the underearth as soldiery are always directed outside of Gwynedd, so the folk of Gwynedd have never seen her perform an act that doesn't directly support the supremacy of the kingdom. But she keeps spies everywhere, and her critics have a habit of mysteriously vanishing.
