Noctis Rubedo Physical / Metaphysical Law in Dark Age of Ur (First Draft) | World Anvil

Noctis Rubedo

Recently, there has been a disruption in the tyrannical night sky, there exists a red glow that stains the horizon on the plains, beyond the mountains. To many it is a mark of the end times, the finishing blow on our already dying world. But to some it is a gift, a beacon of hope in this eternal blackness and respite from the hungering dead.

Manifestation

Although the exact time varies, unlike the records of solar movements before, the Reddening happens at the same place in the sky every night. Staining the Forlorn_Fathers] to the West, the sky lights up for roughly 200 minutes sometime during the Red Hours. It is a dim light, but it is enough for some @[Human individuals to go without a light source. Perhaps as a side effect of the light, the Thanati and other creatures of darkness find the light to be repulsive in nature. Normally, the Grey Sea is impossible to traverse but in this period of time it becomes almost manageable.
Sentient undead including Baron Gaspar  find this phenomenon to be particularly troubling, as the Porphyrogenitus Praetorea functions very poorly during this hour. Normally a population of downtrodden, law abiding citizens, some have taken to the life of an outlaw or outcast. With what small reprieve they can manage, black markets, rampant theft and terrorism against the crown is performed.
A recent happening, this has been the main study or interest for the The Society of Alchemists and is an object of worship for the Seekers of the Sun. Leaving the city vulnerable to the undead hordes, this presents a turning point to the survivors of Maussengart that could result in it's liberation or utter eradication.

Localization

The detrimental effects of the Noctis Rubedo only affects the areas where the light is visible, it has no effect inside the Lenorwyld or the Fernwyld nor any of the buildings inside Maussengart, and certainly not the The Queen's Road.
