Yass
A fairly large town on the west edge of the Bour Lake, Yass gets a steady income from fishing and trade, being a natural stopping point between West Bour and South Byshirom, and one of the few points of comfort in these freezing expanses.
It is also the last real town before venturing up into the Aglungak Hills to the west, and as such caters heavily to adventurers and explorers.

Defences
Thick stone walls surround Yass, and a well trained town guard are heavily backed by a militia. Any sign of trouble from the forest or elsewhere brings an immediate ringing of the town bells and an almost instant arming of the militia. Residents are used to buildings being locked down in seconds, and even travellers are warned of the emergency procedures as they enter the town.
Industry & Trade
Fishing brings in a lot of money, with Yass Smokies being famous throughout the kingdom (a particularly sweet redfish is smoked in huge smokeries with Agunglak alder chips, giving a distinct flavor not achievable anywhere else).
Hot on it's heels, however, is the money that comes in through trade and catering to travellers, adventurers and explorers- a thriving population of leatherworkers, armorers, smiths, greengrocers and butchers join innkeepers, doctors, exotic goods traders and more.

Infrastructure
Yass benefitted from being built while West Bour was still capital, and as a result was planned and built by the greatest architects and civil engineers of the time. Well planned streets and clear districts are supported by underground pipes carrying steam to keep the streets clear of ice and snow and provide heating to all buildings, as well as stop the twinned water pipes freezing over, which provide flowing water to all buildings regardless of the conditions outside. Several feet below sit large sewers which carry effluent away from the city.
A wide selection of shops carry almost anything you could want, although more expensive things may still require a trip up to West Bourr.

Tourism
Plenty of inns, taverns and restaurants cater to visitors here. A large temple, thriving daily market and dozens of shops make this a great destination for those looking to stock up on items or potions, and it's constant heated buildings mean it is a favourite place for villagers around the region to visit during the coldest months of winter.
Architecture
Streets paved with uniform flagstones are lined with tall, stone buildings, with evenly spaced side streets leading deeper into each district. The buildings themselves are of well cut stone that fits almost seamlessly together, and tall narrow windows almost uniformly face north, with heavy metal shutters that crank shut and lock in place.
