Bald Knob

Bald Knob is a small, friendly little village set between Thunmalt, Cheriton and West Bour, and is home to a large proportion of gnomes, although many other inventors have also made their own way.
The village takes full advantage of its position on a high, empty hill to cram windmills onto almost every surface, and the whole village whirs with the sound of spinning sails, gears, chains and wheels.
Bald Knob is located near the most plentiful farms in the kingdom, and food and other supplies are cheap and plentiful.  It isn't unusual for arcanists from West Bour to head to the village to either start specialising in inventing or to work with one of the many tinkers here.

Architecture

Lots of tall, tower-like houses almost all have at least one windmill on top, and ropes and pulleys stretch up and down most buildings as well as between many homes.  Fairly narrow streets have little light naturally due to the leaning houses and profusion of extensions and balconies, but carefully angled mirrors mean most streets are brightly lit regardless throughout the day, and magical lights line the streets throughout the night.
Around the outskirts of the village, tiered gardens line the sides of the hill, growing a plethora of magical plants and useful herbs, with an elaborate sprinkler system keeping everything well watered.
