Furis, God of Fear Character in Dálnaes | World Anvil

Furis, God of Fear

Though called gods, Furis and his twin, Talis are actually wild divine spirits. In times of strife, he flits throughout Dálnaes to strike terror into mortal hearts. Sometimes his passage is brief, leaving little more than a flicker of fear. Other times he lingers, inflicting mortals with crippling dread. Though he's never seen by mortals, in artwork, he is depicted as a figure of shadows with glowing eyes behind a monstrous mask of dark jade.

Some mortals view Furis as a god of bravery as well as fear, for the only way to be brave is to know fear. To that end, he has a surprising number of shrines where people leave offerings either in the hope that he won't pass by at all, or that his passage will give them courage instead of fear.

"The foolish do not feel his presence. The brave face it."
- excerpt from a proverb written by a priest of war
