History
Akirhold was where Iron was first discovered and the Dwarvish Hold technology was first realized. During the Green Horde - Empire of Dwarovar war it was the last hold before the Green Horde would have reached the Dwarovtár. If the defenders of Akirhold didn't hold on as long as they did (from around -5380 AoD to around -4600 AoD, so almost a thousand years), the enitre Caverns of Dwarovar would have been overrun. It's fall ended the Age of Dwarves, and signaled the beginning of the end of the empire, which collapsed less than two years after.
Architecture
It's a mixture of incredibly old Dwarf buildings and the crude tribal infrastructure of the Green Horde.
