King Argo Draconis

So It Begins

After his successful conquest of the throne in 23 ADW, Argo wasted no time getting to work and demoting Ixar Corevus, the king's archmage for the last 25 years. He began looking for a suitable candidate with beliefs that would intertwine with his. After searching for an appropriate fit for months, Argo finally found a candidate, Firos Ulduth, an intelligent and powerful mage originally hailing from the lands of the Underdark. Argo also demoted the remaining leaders of the Draconis forces, claiming that their involvement in the assassination of his lover and his unborn child had caused great distrust in the army he now commands. He promotes several members of Brotherhood of the Dragon. He also names Erik Oldheart a ruthless and cunning warrior as the commander of the Draconis forces. Once a captain in the Draconis army, he defected to Prince Argo's army during the conflict for the crown. Playing a crucial role in Argo’s success, Erik became close to Argo. Argo told him that once he took the crown, he would name him the leader of his forces. Argo kept his word.

A Quest for Vengeance

After making these changes, Argo began to plot his vengeance against those responsible for many of the tragic deaths in Argo's life. Argo sends members of the brotherhood to search for the whereabouts of the gems missing from the crown of wishes, along with information about any of the members of the Protectors of the Realm. As the tragic story of Argo traveled throughout the kingdom, the citizens of Daledon began to show empathy for their new king. The citizens of Incendium begin to change their opinion about the protectors. Once they were called heroes and saviors of the realm, now called traitorist murders.

Wyrmward Beacon

As Argo settles into his new role as king, he quickly realizes that Adaon had left Incendium open for attack from other kingdoms. He assigns Firos to develop a way to boost defenses with magic. After months of research, Firos finds documents dating back to The Dragon War, in these documents, several times dragonite is mentioned. He looks deeper in the library of Dragonfall and discovers a document that describes a magical device capable of making dragons non-hostile. After reading several documents of the dragon war, Firos understands that this device was a project the army of Daledon was a part of but abandoned as the dragons attacked shipments of dragonite. Firos then finds blueprints of the device called the Wyrmward Beacon. With a few tweaks to the original design, Firos believes he could successfully build a device that can control dragons instead of just making them non-hostile. Firos draws up new blueprints and pitches the idea to Argo. Argo becomes very interested in this idea, asking what Firos would need to build the device and the towers to project its power. Firos explains that its energy source would be Dragonite. Dragonite at the time was only found in one location in Vastor. Argo suddenly remembers stories that his father told him about ambushed vastorian convoys carrying shipments of dragonite somewhere in the Rolling Sea. Argo sends two ships with his dragon Etor to search for the lost dragonite.   Argo's dragon didn't take long to locate the lost dragonite as it lit up the sea floor with its magical aura. Once the ships arrive at the location, they retrieve the dragonite with no problem and return Incendium and to Dragonport. As the ships return with the dragonite Firos explains to Argo that they will need much more dragonite. Firos explains that they will need a steady stream of new dragonite, which would come from Vastor. Argo sends diplomats to Vastor to negotiate a deal. Vastor declines all offers due to Argo's father, the corrupt king Amon. After Amon invaded Vastor, the vastorians distrusted the Draconis Empire. Firos explains the next course of action would be to take over the territory where dragonite is found in Vastor. Argo declined and put the project on hold.

A New Dragonport

After his visit to Dragonport to overseas the ships carrying the lost dragonite, Argo noticed that the construction of the new castle in the city was left unfinished by King Adaon Draconis. Argo ordered the castle's completion by the end of the year, which was three months away. Three months later, the castle was still not finished. Furious, Argo sentenced the man in charge of overseeing the completion of the castle to death. A few months late in the year 24 ADW, the new castle of Dragonport was built. This new castle was state of the art, with fortified walls, new ballistas, two barracks, and a vast underground vault. Argo names this new castle after his lover Miarel Neidra. The Miarel Castle was the first outstanding achievement of King Argo.

Intel

2 years have passed since Argo took the crown; his reign had been uneventful for most of those two years. That was about to change. One of Argo's men from the brotherhood finally returns to Dragonfall with important information about the whereabouts of one of the gems from The Crown Of Wishes. He explains that one of the gems is in the precision of a wealthy man located in the city of Neles. It so happens to be that this man may also be a memeber of the Protectors of the Realm. After learning this information, Argo considers a course of action to receive the gem and also eliminate a member of the protectors. Agro calls a meeting with his top advisors, including Firos and Erik Oldheart. In this meeting, they discuss the next course of action. Hours later, Argo and his advisors agreed to send an ambassador to Vastor once again. This time either surrender the gem and the wealthy man or face another invasion.

Worth the Risk

After sending another ambassador to Vastor, Argo receives word that the Vastorian Empire declined Argo's offer. Argo then prepares his new army for an invasion of Vastor. Learning from his father's past mistakes, Argo realizes he must be prepared as much as possible before declaring war on Vastor. Argo and Firos begin to talk about the possibility of taking control of the land near the Dragonite depository. With the possibility of gaining a gem for the crown, killing a member of the protectors of the realm, and gaining the territory needed to mine dragonite, invading Vastor was a reasonable decision. Argo tells Erik Oldheart, the commander of Draconis's forces, to prepare for war. As in every war in Daledon, dragons are a crucial key to victory. Argo begins to gather his family members in the Draconis family to ask for their support. But because of Argo's actions against his uncle, many members of the Draconis family deny aiding Argo. Erik Oldheart assures Argo that his new army is ready to defeat the Vastorian forces.

Invasion of Vastor

In 25 ADW, the Draconis Empire is again at war. Argo explains that invading Vastor is necessary because "Vastor harbors a traitor of the crown, a man who is part of the organization who killed your former king. I have asked Vastor to hand over this man, but Vastor denies my request and continues to protect this traitor. We must bring this man to justice and have him answer for the crimes he has committed at all costs. Do not forget that the Vastorian Empire has sided with our enemy, the so-called protectors of the realm. Therefore, Vastor is our enemy as well. If we want a world without corruption, we must put an end to those who cause corruption. The protectors of the realm do not want to see peace in Daledon; rather, they want to cause chaos throughout the realm. They want you to fear them, worship them, and tell tales of their accomplishments. But their time of fun has come to an end. With them defeated, Incendium will become the utopia my grandfather dreamt of.". The citizens of Incendium mostly believe this and support the decision to invade Vastor once again, giving Argo and the Draconis army the okay to invade. A few weeks later, the Draconis army and a few members of the royal Draconis family marched towards Vastor.

Dragon's Maelstrom Assault

In late 25 ADW the Draconis forces reach the border of Incendium and Vastor. The Draconis Army quickly makes its way through the Elkheard Forest and quickly sieges and conquers Wilton, using Erik's new battle strategy, Dragon's Maelstrom. The dragon's maelstrom is a powerful and coordinated attack strategy, starting with dragons creating chaos from the sky, cavalry exploiting the disarray to penetrate enemy defenses, and foot soldiers securing the victory by engaging what remains. This new battle strategy, with the help of Argo's dragon Etor and his relative's dragon Jovat, they were able to make quick work of the troops in Wilton. Then, the Draconis Army quickly moves northeast alongside the edge of the Deepstone Mountains. The Draconis army quickly moved forward, cutting down reinforcements late to the battle. The army finds itself knocking on the door of the fortified city of Thornhaven. There, an intense siege will commence a few days later. Unprepared for the new battle strategy, Thronhaven was taken over within the next day. With Thornhaven in Draconis's grasp, Argo effectively split Vastor in half. Thus King Cedrick Williamson without a choice, withdrew all of vastorian troops south of Thornhaven. For the next few months, Argo sucessfully captures all cities south of Thornhaven, cutting Vastor's power in half.

Drakeshard Mines

Capturing Thronhaven gave access to the Drakeshard mines used to harvest dragonite. Thus achieving one of Argo's goals set for the invasion. After capturing Thronhaven, Argo and Firos focused on the Drakeshard mines. While visiting the mountains containing the mines, Argo realized the shiny material looked very similar to the mountains found on a mysterious island he once saw as a young man. He quickly ordered a scouting party to sail to this island northwest of Ulfdell.   A week later, the scouting party confirmed that the mountains on this mysterious island looked similar to those near Thronhaven. Argo orders the scouting party to adventure to the island to find out if this island also contained dragonite.   Months went by without a word. As Argo begins to worry, he focuses more on the Drakeshard mines, fortifying the city and the mines themselves. These mines were now guarded by magical steel guards created by Firos’s magic. By mid-26 ADW, Thronhaven and the Drakeshard mines were now part of the Draconis Empire.   As Draconis Empire begins to produce dragonite, they can use this material for several of Firos’s projects. Argo never receives any confirmation from his scouting party. He sends two elite members of the brotherhood to investigate further. Months later, like the scouts, no word was brought to Argo. Argo becomes irritated and tells his servants to get his dragon ready. But as Argo is about to fly off to the Island, another brotherhood member stops him. The man says, "My lord, I found a location for a gem. It is located in Gibba Mons, the cave Gnomes have it.".

A Problem in Gibba Mons

After finding out about one of the gems of the The Crown Of Wishes, Argo returns home with Firos, leaving Erik Oldheart in charge of Thornhaven. Back at Dragonfall, Argo and Firos discuss plans on how to retrieve the gem located in the hands of the cave gnomes in Gibba Mons . They decide on a plan to infiltrate the cave system, thought to be the system that contains the gem. Most of the members of the Brotherhood of the Dragon are already tasked with missions. Argo signs Sir Ravengar Stormborn , a knight in the Draconis Army, to take a squad of men into the cave systems, and take the gem at all costs. Argo chooses Ravengar because he has a reputation for being a man who will get the job done no matter the cost.   At the end of 26 ADW, the mission to take the gem in Gibba Mons occurs. As Sir Ravengar and his men finally make it to the entrance to the cave, they spot a few guards and make it inside rather quickly. Once inside, they go through the cave system, getting lost and confused in the vast and plentiful passageways. Finally, as they enter the cave, they spot a light coming down a tunnel. Moving slowly, they eventually notice a few Gnomes sleeping in their beds; Ravengar draws a dagger and kills the Gnomes sleeping. Moving further in, they find a chapel-like room. As they enter the room, a bright and sparkly diamond lies on an altar across them. Ravengar rushes to the diamond and picks it off the altar. A trap is triggered as he lifts the gem off the altar, and an arrow flies into Ravengar's leg. Ravengar lets out a scream, waking dozens of gnomes nearby. Ravengar and his Draconis soldiers are in a tough spot as their stealth rares off. Ravengar says, " I will not fail our king; we must push through, kill them all. and protect the gem at all costs". Ravengar and his troops draw their weapons and begin to push forward, cutting down anyone in their path. They manage to make their way out with very few casualties. As they exit the cave, Ravengar turns around and toses a magical bomb in order to escape without being followed. By throwing this magical bomb, the entrance collapses and traps the remaining gnomes inside.   Ravengar and his men return to Dragonfall, where he gives Argo the diamond of godly power. Mesmerized by the gem he sees before him, Argo speaks no words. He takes the gem from Ravengar's hand and places it in the correct slot on his crown. For a split second, all the candles in the room flickers. Argo can feel the magic coming from the crown. He smiles and laughs, saying, " I feel different; I feel stronger than I ever have in my life. Sir Ravengar of Dradevows, I thank you. You have done well".

Yet Another Attempt

Mid-summer of 27 ADW, thanks to the Drakeshard mines, the Draconis army finally collects enough Dragoniteto have Firos Ulduth construct the first Wyrmward Beacon. When the king of Vastor, King Cedrick Williamson, found out about such a device, he quickly had the Knights of Oton try to stop its creation. So, on the 7th day of Oldir, the Knights of Oton infiltrated a secret lab in the depths of Dragonfall. But Firos was prepared for them and killed several of them. Once they realized their mission was doomed, they began to flee. One knight bravely managed to sneak into the king's living quarters and tried to assassinate Argo. But one of the king's guardmen spotted the knight and began to fight him. As the fight between the guard and the knight continued, Argo suddenly appeared behind the knight and stabbed him through the back. Noticing the man's armor, Argo immediately knew these knights were the Knights of Oton.

All Hail Odar

After another failed assassination attempt, Argo began to collect another nickname. Argo, the unkillable. He had lost count of how many times someone lesser than him tried to kill him. But with each one he survived, his hatred grew. At age 45, Argo seemed only to have a few emotions. Hatred being the most prominent one. Argo makes a decree banning the practice of all religions except for Odarism. With this decree, chaos erupted throughout Incendium. The Draconis Army is ordered to destroy all temples and statues of all other religions. In the elven section of Incendium, the temples of Seldarine are destroyed. The religion of Otonism takes the brunt of the chaos, with several key members of the religion being imprisoned and even killed. Argo tasks the Followers of the Flame to uphold this new religious law, which also stretches in the conquered areas of Vastor and into the Deepstone Mountains.

The First of Many

After the failed attempt at destroying the first wyrmward beacon by Vastorian Empire, the first beacon is finally finished in 28 ADW. Soon after that, the construction of the first Dragon Towers commenced. Its location being near the Drakeshard Mines. The vastorian army tries several attempts to destroy the tower but fails to stop its creation. By the end of 27 ADW, the first Dragon Tower is completed, but with no dragon. At the beginning of the year 28 ADW, the Protectors of the Realm make a reappearance when they send a dragon that they were able to train after the The Dragon War, to attack the tower. With Firo's and Argo's powerful magic, the two are able to trap the dragon in Thornhaven. For the next couple of days Firos Ulduth tries to figure out how to make the obedient with the dragon tower. Firos concludes that a crucial part of the process is missing. He suggests to Argo that in order to truly control the dragon, they must also have a humanoid part to the system. Argo asks Firos if he had anyone in mind, and Firos admittedly names powerful warlocks from the Underdark. Argo agrees, and a few days later, a shady man wearing a dark hood covering his face appeared in Firos's lab in Thornhaven. Firos introduces the man and gets right to work. After hours of arcane experiments, they finally figured out how to link the humanoid to the tower. A few minutes later, the dragon, once trapped in chains, is now free and under the tower's command. Though this is a great accomplishment in the arcane world, it has a far darker and bleak future.

MORE POWER!

With the first dragon becoming under the control of the dragon tower, it drove fear into the minds of the citizens of Daledon. What was once a plan to stop the chaos of the The Dragon Warbecame a new sinister way to uphold power. It made other kingdoms think twice about attacking Incendium. Firos and Argo begin to draw plans to build even more towers to defend Incendium almost completely. Many high-ranked politicians of the Draconis Empire disagreed with such towers and thought that with more towers it would be impossible to dethrone Argo if the time seemed fit. Many began to worry that Argo had become yet another wicked king. But with his power growing, no one dared challenge Argo. Therefore, Argo and Firos made plans to build more towers. However, the production of Dragonite was not vast enough to power and use these towers effectively. Regardless, Argo orders the dragon towers to be built without the magical elements. By 29 ADW, all planned dragon towers are built.

Dragons for the Dragon Keepers at the Dragon Tower (LOL)

As the new dragon towers were built, one question remained. What dragons would be controlled by the towers? Argo lists powerful dragons he wishes to have under his control. At the top of the list was Adror his father's dragon. Adror had fled Incendium after King Amon Draconis's death. He sends scouts across Daledon to find his location. Also on this list were the remaining members of the Cult of Klauth, especially the new cult leader, Arharzel. Firos suggests that Argo find Arharzel and bring him to him. With his own wyrmward beacon and his powerful magic, Firos believes he would be able to control Arharzel completely. Argo plans to find Arharzel himself and readys Etor. Argo and Etor fly to Klauthen Vale where the evil dragon Klauth once lived. This was the most logical location for where the Cult of Klauth was hiding since it was remote.   Once Argo and Etor reached Klauthen Vale, it was clear that the dragon he sought was somewhere around the area. Argo orders Etor to fly around the area to see if he can spot Arharzel. Etor roars, " Arharzel! You old fool, hide no longer. Join me and become more powerful than ever before," Arharzel hears Etor and flies towards him. Arharzel says to Etor "What do you want, you slimy draushum (dragon). Why have you come from the depths of hell to come to bother me?" Etor looks shocked at what Arharzel has said to him. Arharzel then says to him, " Yes, Etor, I know who you really are, Zarvox. Klauth gave you a chance to join us, you turned it down, now you call yourself Etor and follow commands from a dragonborn.". Etor says back " My master, Argo will be more powerful then Klauth could have ever been. Why do you still hide within his cave? Klauth is dead; join us.". Arharzel responds. "I seek powerful magic to bring Klauth back; you say your master is more powerful than Klauth, but I sense someone else is more advanced in the arcane arts. Does this munthrek (human) exist?". Etor says, "He is not a munthrek, but an ingoeth from the thestret (underdark). "A ingoeth from thestret you say? Interesting. He must have a vast knowledge of the dark arcane arts. I wish to speak with him." said Arharzel. "Then come with me Arharzel, come with me to Dragonfall." Etor says. Etor successfully convinced Arharzel to go back to Dragonfall with him. But when Arharzel reaches Dragonfall, Firo, with help from his wyrmward beacon, is able to capture Arharzel and casts powerful magic on him to obey Firo's command. Firo then commands Arharzel to return to Klauthen Vale and return the other cult members. The Draconis Empire once again commands the Cult of Klauth. With these dragons and a few more. All dragon towers will have a dragon of its own.

Ember Island

With the Dragon towers almost completed the missing piece was the dragonite used to power the magical tower. As the Drakeshard Mines did produce a vast amount of dragonite, it was only enough to power a little less than half of the towers. Argo focuses again on the mysterious island. Years ago, he sent several men to scout the islands and received no word about what they found there. Argo sends Sir Ravengar Stormborn and two members of Brotherhood of the Dragon to find out what happened to the scouts who traveled to the island before, and to finally recon the island.   A few weeks later, Ravengar and the two others reach the shore of the mysterious island; once on land, Ravengar begins to feel uneasy, as if someone was watching them. He tells the other men to stay sharp and move cautiously. This island was rocky, with barely any flat land; it smelled of sulfur and decay. Ravengar feels his blood begin to boil, climbing the rocky cliffside. Still, he pushes forward, locating a nearby cave entrance. The men quickly run towards the cave and enter it slowly. Ravengar lights a torch, and suddenly, the torch's flame becomes three times as big. The men look at each other and push through. On edge, the men begin to look in every direction constantly as they push forward. They begin to see strange markings on the cave walls. Moments later, the men find themselves with a choice of two passageways. The men choose to split up and go two separate ways.   Ravengar takes the passage to the right, and the two members of the brotherhood go to the left. As Ravengar makes his way through the tunnel. He begins to hear a slight hum; as he moves further down the path, he sees shards of light on the cave walls. Moments later, he entered a huge open area filled with the magical material dragonite. Relieved to find what they were looking for, Ravengar quickly runs back and goes down the other path the two men went down. As he begins to move down the other tunnel, he begins to smell sulfur once again; as he gets further down, the smell becomes more pungent. Ravengar begins to scream out for the men, with no reply. Ravengar slowly begins to draw his sword, moving now in a crouched position; Ravengar makes his way to what looks like a caved-in part of the tunnel. He begins to smell the sulfur once again. He looks around to see if there was another passage. As he moves closer to the cave-in, his foot knocks into something on the ground. Ravengar looks down and sees the two men bloody and torn. Their lifeless bodies frighten Ravengar, and he starts to run towards the exit of the cave. Making it out of the cave unharmed, Ravengar turns around and looks at the cave and wonders what the hell happened. Nonetheless, Ravengar heads toward the shore, gets in the row boat, and returns to the Draconis ship. Once on the ship, the ship captain asks, " What happened to the others?" Ravengar responds, "I don't know; take me back to Dragonfall."

Ember Prison

When Ravengar arrives at Dragonfall, he tells Argo about what he saw on the island. Once Argo hears that there is in fact dragonite on the island, he completely tunes out Ravengar and pays no attention to him mentioning the two dead men. Weeks later, at the end of the year 29 ADW, Argo orders Firos to oversee the construction of a new mine capable of producing as much dragonite as possible. Firos begins to draw out blueprints for the mine. With the growing amount of prisoners due to Argo's decree against religion, Firos suggests that the island would be a perfect location for a new prison. Argo agrees, and Firos begins the plans of building a prison.   By the beginning of the year 30 ADW, the prison was built; this prison was the location of prisoners arrested for religious crimes and enemies of the crown. The prisoners were forced to work in the newly built mines, collecting dragonite. This dragonite was then put on ships and sent to Dragonport were it was then sent to the dragon towers needing more power. Soldiers of the Draconis Army guarded this prison along with Firos-created Steel Watchers. Firos also cast a powerful antimagic field around the island, which limited any magical spells on the island. Also, on the island, a dragon tower is built with a powerful dragon patrolling the skies around the island, making it even more impossible to escape the island.

Let the Games Begin

With all the dragon towers now all being used. Argo's power grows throughout Daledon. Word spreads of the accomplishments of Argo, making the kingdoms of Daledon concerned. With such power, Daledon is at risk of being conquered once again. Argo's hatred for the Protectors of the Realm fuels his motivation to become the most powerful king in Daledon's history. Argo feels comfortable now with his powerful dragon towers defending Incendium from possible attacks, so he focuses on the uncaptured cities of Vastor. He knows he will be at the gates of Neles no time. At this very moment, nothing seems to be in Argo's way of conquering all of Daldeon and destroying the Protectors of the realm.
