Port Leosta

Port Leosta is a city in south-eastern Erwy. It was long known as a fisherman's paradise and a supply hub for the western part of the continent. Currently, it's the main port of origin for ships leaving for the new lands of Zea start their journey.   Port Leosta started as a fishing village, close enough to the Kalo Mountains to maintain regular contact with the mines. The citizens quickly discovered that delivering bounty of the ocean makes a fine addition, if not repalcement for tending to herds and growing crops. This pushed them to develop better and better seafaring techniques and to discover new species of sea creatures they were first to introduce to the Dain cuisine. While obviously it is not the only port on the continent, risky journeys to the east, in the Yellow Storm territory, quickly gained the Leostan sailors fame of the best in the land as the original Stormbraves. Additionally, the unnatural ecosystem of the Storm-afflicted waters produced several species of fish yet to be seen anywhere else.   Diverging from its origins, together with the expanse of the Norwod Company, the port developed a warehouse district and several shipwright companies focusing on small and fast cargo ships, as some materials were easier to transport to the western Dain by water, rather than risking travel through the mountains bisecting the continent.   Port Leosta was the starting point of the Brave's journey in 90 AU. With its captain, Iria Starwild, the Brave was the first ship to reach another continent and safely return. This further changed the direction of the ship-building industry, now focused almost exclusively on enabling transport of goods between the two lands.   The presence of the exotic imported goods only made the city grow. Other major ports are years behind the technology and much farther in distance from Zea, and are eyeing its profits with jealousy. Port Leosta, starting as a humble fishing village, became a industry pioneer and vacation destination for the nobility, hoping to be there when the next shipment of Zean goods arrives. Among the most unusual recent guests are researchers from the University of Erwy, travelling with the Beacon and hoping to accompany it to its destination on Zea.
