Daggers

A long time ago in the megacity that covered half of the planet, a series of cannisters containing a strange vapour-like Mutagen that transforms whomever it touches into grotesque, violent and powerful tumourous creatures were dropped into the streets of the megatropolis, mutating over half of the population into the beings known as Cinogens.

Those on the other half of the planet quickly isolated the megacity with state-of-the-art unscalable walls miles high and wide, content to continue with their lives as normal and leave the other half of humanity to suffer in the apocalypse they proceeded to endure. Generations were born within the cityscape now known as Ruin, unaware of the existence of plants, untainted animal life, sprawling forests or shimmering seas- but with these births came a new generation with an unforeseen trait- the Resistance Gene. Carriers of these gene were unaffected by Cinogenic Mutation via mutagen, instead gaining various anomalous traits and abilities from the vapour.

In the current age, the state of Otherside, the half of the world unaffected by the calamities, is unknown. A subset of people called Blades dedicate their lives to hunting and slaying as many cinogens as possible, hoping to reclaim their half of the world from the blight, using specialised weapons created specifically to kill cinogens. Blade that possess abilities from the Resistance Gene call themselves Daggers.
