Introspect Scrying

This technique was recently developed as a way to recover lost memories and cure amnesia for good. It is a unique combination of modern medicine and magical practice to help cure dementia and other memory related illnesses. Mental health in general hasn't been in the forefront of serious health issues that got any public or professional attention in the old Empire, but with the traumatic experiences the Great War brought in its wake, treating and correctly diagnosing mental diseases became one of the priorities of a post-war recovering society. Many of the issues that have been boiling under the lid have started wreaking havoc among people and it was time to do something about them, before they destroy what little has been left of human connections.   Amnesia or even not being able to recall all information about one's experiences have been a problem for the past years. Some memories have been lost due to age, some due to trauma that has locked them behind mental barriers and some have been stolen by magic or abuse of other substances as a way to alleviate the pain from past experiences. But masking these things does not help a person to recover it just buries the problem. Which why the Dr. Jordan Rosemonde started working in the collaboration with the Chroma Institute in trying to develop a way to track lost memories using the astral magical field and other places of not-being. His team has achieved a breakthrough in the year 1922, when they introduced the Introspect Scrying to public.   The patient is injected with a chemical substance that stimulates their brain while also working similarly to tracer fluid able to transcend the limits of a corporeal body and seeping into one's aura and beyond. Through somewhat meditational techniques and a scrying mirror, a chroma assistant is able to guide the patient on a journey of rediscovery of their memories and taking them back. This is also referred to as reclaiming. If done improperly, the patient might be stuck reliving the discovered memory over and over and over again. (Yes, this is a torture technique now.)   The side effects have not been exactly worked out yet, but this medicinal breakthrough has helped many families reunite and also brought attention to the fascinating and complicated inner workings of a human brain. It was also used to help investigate several crimes, even though it is not considered a legitimate evidence at court. Yet.
