Wignog Smieddwager

Wignog is a gnome who originally hails from the Smieddwager Forest. He has hailed from there less often ever since he burned down a significant portion of the forest with errant fire magic. A wizard, an anthropologist, and a man of culture, Wignog is fascinated by other civilizations, and has not let his abrupt arrival in Barovia dampen his enthusiasm for learning. Together, he and the dragonborn Garlic Masher had sought to keep the evils of the land at bay and help where they can.
The two joined the party at the Blood of the Vine Tavern where they helped defeat a local lout, Marek, who answered for his disrespect of Vengeance with his life. Afterward, they accepted Ismark Kolyanovich's request to escort his sister Ireena Kolyana to Vallaki in order to evade the long reach of Strahd von Zarovich's unwanted advances.
They would soon meet Strahd von Zarovich on the road to Vallaki, where he showed off a fine weapon he called "a gun." Wignog had never seen one of these before and was most impressed. However he was far less impressed by the band of gunsnake creatures the party had to fire afterwards. Still, Strahd had seemed interested in having Wignog view his collection of guns and similar artifacts. Perhaps this could be an opportunity...
In Vallaki Wignog would be fascinated by the town's culture, and the custom of saying "All will be well" at every break in the conversation. He was less fascinated to hear it was by decree of the baron, who was convinced that happiness was the key to defeating Strahd. Still, this was all very interesting. He would need to start using this phrase.
Tragedy would soon strike poor Wignog, as his friend Garlic Masher would perish during a great battle atop Yester Hill with the forest folk Svarog and his people who were trying to summon something monstrous.
