Folklore Notebook of Charles Corben

Overview

This slim volume is the notebook of Charles Corben for his 1954 Spring research project. Corben was studying under Professor Albert N. Whipple of Missituk University. The notes cover the period of time from early February 1954 to late April 1954. The subject of Corben's project was Misery Island laying in the waters of the Missituk River near the Garrison Street Bridge. The notebook contains the notes of the ill-fated Missituk University student’s investigation of the the little island with “a curious stone altar older than the Indians”.
