The Khazigur Menagerie and Zoo

The height of wealth and power is the ability to assemble and maintain a park where exotic beasts from all across the world are kept in pens and enclosures. While many kings and potentates have their own private zoos where one might find a hippo or two and perhaps a giraffe, the City Zoo of Khazigur is one of the centerpieces of the western Revelry district, far from the House Absolute, where city meets forest and where people of almost any means can come and spend time among creatures mundane and magical.

Purpose / Function

The city Zoo was founded several hundred years ago by the Cazaxanian Autarch Francisco III as a safer and healthier place to keep the royal menagerie, which at that time was mostly made up of exotic animals of Toz and the Caetica - lions, tigers, hyenas and several kinds of great apes, as well as various snakes, lizards and tortoises. While nothing shabby for the time, in its new location and with a dedicated and well paid staff that over time grew into a full blown guild, the Zookeepers guild, the city Zoo has grown to become a wonder unto itself.

Alterations

Over time the zoo has grown to encompass nearly 100 square acres of land with many fairly open enclosures and several freestanding buildings including the Dinosaur District surrounding the Reptile House, the Aberrations Building and a glass-walled aquarium where dolphins, manta rays and a Giant Snapping Turtle command the attention of thousands of visitors daily. As the crowds have grown, so have accommodations such as inns, taverns, food stalls, and safe play areas for younger visitors more in line with the purpose of a park.
