Elizabeth Edgar

Head of Guild Relations Elizabeth Edgar (a.k.a. Liz)

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Elizabeth is certainly a model young lady, keen to keep up her physical appearance, she is clean, tidy, groomed and relatively fit.  Her diet is "proper," her health "tip top", as she would say.

Body Features

Her young face is refreshing to many in the public when looking to politics, and is instantly recognisable.  Her defining eyes, distinctive hair and sharp, polite expression makes her quiet the site.  It is sometimes broken by laughter in the dining hall, or a meeting with a loved one, but most of the time, you can tell it is her from a mile off, for no one is quite as immaculate and sharp on the politicall scene. It definitely does not have anything to do with the fact that most other politicians are men...

Facial Features

Round distinctive, deep eyes.  Even eye brows, bright smile.  With rounded cheeks and sharp expression, there is no doubt she is both pleasant and pretty.

Identifying Characteristics

Her eyes are shared among the family, her mothers that it.  If you stood Fenrir beside her, for example, the only difference would be in eye colour.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Elizabeth was the youngest of two children at her birth, on the 16/02 09 PR. She was six years younger than her older brother, John Edgar. She was raised primarily by her mother, Mary Edgar, as her father was a Paladin in The Order of Alfred and apprentice of the Highest ranking Paladin, Osowiec "The Invincible". She lived with her family in a typical Paladin Hovel, small single floor underground houses beneath the Temple of Alfred on the outskirts of Nythrim, Dire. The home was large enough for the family, with a master bedroom at the back, a central living area and kitchen, with bedrooms beyond. The hovels were built out of natural materials, with dry, painted mud walls and tree structures. Elizabeth remembers her early years fondly.   When she was six years old, she suddenly became the middle child, as a younger brother was born. The three were six years apart, but that didn't stop them forming a bond. Elizabeth remembers her brothers fondly, looking up to the sensible yet daring nature of her older brother, and nurturing and admiring the curiosity of her younger. It didn't matter she was the only girl, she had her mother. John, the older brother, and Lawrence, the younger, were 12 years apart and thus were not as close as Elizabeth was to them.   Lawrence had a habit of wandering off into the forests around the Temple, and often she would spend hours per day teaching him the names of everything from trees to small animals, primarily in Elvish, as any respectable Dayern would learn both, but Lawrence struggled with the jaunty, complicated Cresterian common more than he did the natural flow of Elvish, something which Elizabeth shared in common with him.   It would be quiet often that Lawrence would go missing in the forest, and she would go running in after him, only to find him safely playing with a stick, being watched affectionately by one of the Dire Wolves who may have strayed across his scent.   Elizabeth has many fond memories of her and Lawrence, be it exploring the green unknown, playing with the Dire Wolves on the edge of the forest, or laughing at Lawrence's attempts at speaking common. She was largely responsible for teaching Lawrence basic reading and writing. Elizabeth was also very close to her mother, being the only girl of the family. She learnt many lady-like skills from etiquette to sowing and other house crafts. On the night of the home invasion by the Vampire Captain, Inecea Sufucon, where her mother was bitten and Lawrence nearly taken to be devoured, was a night that would forever be solidified in her memory as a nightmare. With her mother gone, she cried endlessly for weeks on end. To make matters worse, her beloved brother was taken to be raised as the first of a new generation of Druids for the Order. There would be many a time where she would curse Alfred and the Order, for taking her younger brother and letting her Mother slip from the Island. This was much to the dismay of her father, who chastised her for it.   Whilst Lawrence was learning his way round magic and nature, Elizabeth was at the prestigious "College of Political and Social Thought", where she learned the art of politics. With a heart for peace, she strove for excellence in diplomacy. She made many friends in the school, her impeccable manners and Elvish likely helping with the fact she was one of the only Humans. The Colleges and schools were often only available for the most privileged in society, and whilst money was short, her family name was the deciding factor in her entry, though her excellent entrance examination results likely played a minor impact...   After graduating, she moved to Doriath, and eventually worked her way to her current position of "Head of Guild Relations".   In recent memory, there is but one event that stands out in her mind, a moment she replays over and over again in her head. It was a typical day, lots of paper work and the usual. Thank goodness it was the annual Festival of the Split, with a new year just around the corner, she could take the day off. It was 30 PR, and she had numerous important things to attend to, even if the paper work could be forgotton.   Elizabeth was clearing up her desk when it happened. The door was opened and in strolled and scruffy, lanky, dirty young boy, with overgrown long hair, a grey and brown fur cloak, and pale complexion. On his shoulder was a small wolf cub, clinging on for dear life, and in his hand a wooden staff, atop it a green crystal. The boy was around six foot, and stood there, smiling. She was initially startled and confused, but one look in the boys yellow eyes, and she recognised a familiar shape and glint. They turned green in her mind, identical to hers and her mother's. Could it be? After almost ten years? The Boy broke the silence. "Hello Sister.. I mean Elizabeth, I mean..." he stuttered and shivered, almost frightful in his greeting. "Its me, Lawrence." His accent was hard to comprehend, but his voice was recognisable, his eyes undeniable, his face distinct. It was him. "Lawrence?" Elizabeth was taken back, as she stumbled to her feet, with tears welling, she paced to the front of her desk, and opened her arms. The boy came instinctively, dropping his staff and throwing his arms around her. She kissed his head and hugged him tightly. It was a moment of bliss, and Lawrence, now known more commonly as Fenrir, got to feel what it was like to have a human family again.   Elizabeth took him to the feast, where the rest of the fledgling Knights of Braveheart were gathering. They were surprised to see their little Druid friend with a prominent politician, and Elizabeth proudly introduced her brother to everyone, little did she know just how famous he was to become. Lawrence had to speak in Elvish, due to his incoherent rambling in common, and his table etiquette left much to be desired, but the two got a laugh out of the feast, re-telling old stories, talking of everything they had been up to over the past ten years, telling each other how proud they were of the other, and generally enjoying the re-union.   The Festival didn't go quite to plan, with the Xanathar Guild deciding to intervene. It mattered little. Elizabeth aided the Knights of Braveheart in their shipping endeavors, paying for the refurbishment of an old Galleon, after they ran an errand at an old Research Facility under occupation of the Confedercay. That is a story for another day, however.

Education

Elizabeth was educated at the "College of Political and Social Thought" in Thylatalos, the capital of Dire, from the age of 15 to 18.  She spent the three years studying the extensive historical library, and familerised herself in the Dayern way of doing politics.  At 19, she went to Doriath, and rose through the ranks, where, at the age of 22, she achieved the position she currently holds.

Employment

Her first job was a secretary to a high court Lawyer.  The gentlemen who worked around her quickly talent spotted her and elevated her to higher positions.  Eventually, Elizabeth gained her current title and responsibility, and has since worked around the clock to make Doriath both peaceful and prosperous.  Managing the many guilds is no mean feat, as they operate similarly to some sort of independent states within the Republic.  Nonetheless, Elizabeth continues to hold the vision that the guilds can be brought under Central Authority, if she can find something for them to rally behind.  Peace and Mutual Prosperity has thus far seemed promising.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Graduating The College was nothing to scoff at, for it was a college for only the most privileged and elite of society... normally elves.  The Edgar name however was more than enough to get her in.  The courses were grueling, but Elizabeth prevailed.     Her patience in being talent spotted, and rise to high status with ease only serves to prove her excellence.

Failures & Embarrassments

The greatest failure to her is that she cannot help but feel the blame for Fenrir's situation.  The two were close as young children, though Alice was six years his senior.  She has never been able to shake the feeling that she should have raised him for a few years more, and then entered her education, rather than "throwing him to the wolves" as she describes it. Her reunion only made her feelings worse.   Whilst Fenrir assured her that the wolves were caring, she could not help but feel a sense of regret. Having her scruffy brother follow her around and sit with her at the festival was only minor embarrassment and slight damage on her image.  The joy she felt at being with him again was too great, even if his table manners left much to be desired.

Mental Trauma

Watching her mother get bitten by a violent Vampire and stolen from her is enough to scar an adult, let alone a 12 year-old girl. The aforementioned guilt for Fenrir's upbringing, or lack thereof, continues to haunt her. Yet, stoic as her father, she marches on.

Intellectual Characteristics

Elizabeth is methodical, clever and confident.  She is not what some may describe as quick thinking or actively decisive, as she prefers to consider all possible implications of her actions before choosing the correct one. Her confidence in her abilities is both self driven and comes from outside praise. She posses a natural ability to come up with multiple ideas very quickly, and put any of them into action when needed, seemingly making the most out of every intellectual situation.  It is believed that this talent was trained and refined to its current state during her education at the College in Thylatalos.

Morality & Philosophy

For Elizabeth, the highest desire in Cresteria is perpetual Peace.  The War has torn her family apart, and the wider world.  It would be wrong to call her a pacifist however.  If achieving Peace means a bloody and drawn out conflict, then so be it. Being Dayern, she wished to preserve nature, and Dire as an independent, under the ideology of "Self-determination" for ethnicities and , a controversial topic in Capital politics, as many feel a centralised Republic across the world would be far better for future prosperity than the current set up of many civilisations and states independently operating along side the Republic of Cresteria.   Elizabeth is clear on her view, and little will change her mind on these particular topics.

Taboos

It would be unwise for anyone to mention anything about her mother in front of her, as she becomes incredibly emotional, and understandably so.   Likewise, anyone saying a bad word about either of her brothers is not going to get on well with her.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Elizabeth wishes to bring Peace to Cresteria.  She became a political figure in Doriath to aid in bringing Peace and prosperity to the Capital, so that its efforts can be focused externally and end the Pirate Conflicts.  After her family was torn apart by the Invasion, she vowed to spend her life, like her father and elder brother, working to end this frightful and bloody debacle.

Likes & Dislikes

A strong love of everything family, her siblings and her home.   She enjoys her job, a lot, yet she often is insulted indirectly by those around her for being a women in such a prestigious position.  This was not the case on Dire, as Elves are a little more gender equal, (though not hugely).  She rises above such pettiness, as those whose opinions matter, care only that she does her job, and that is indisputable.

Virtues & Personality perks

A sense of duty to her family, loyalty and stoicism, fearlessness in adversity and excellent speaking ability.

Vices & Personality flaws

Her weakness is her family, as much as it is a strength.  She would do anything for them, and her younger brother is of great importance to her, for she feels a sense of responsibility in his situation, that she should have raised him in spite of everything... Her personnel blame runs deep, despite her success.

Hygiene

Living the life of a politician is not luxurious, at least in comparison to a king or noble.  She is keen to keep up appearance, and keeps herself clean.   Despite the high life, she misses the coziness of the Paladin hovel underneath the Temple on Dire.

Social

Contacts & Relations

As the daughter of Micheal "The Vengeful" Edgar, a high ranking Paladin in The Order of Alfred, and her elder Brother, John Edgar, a Captain in the Dayern Navy, and her younger brother, Lawrence Edgar, the last Druid of the Order and famous adventurer in "The Knights of Braveheart", Elizabeth has her connections.

Family Ties

Elizabeth hopes to rebuild her family.  Her father and brother are out fighting, her younger brother adventuring and rebuilding the Order, and she busy in the capital, she hopes to one day return to Dire and reunite the family.   After her mother, Mary, was bitten by the Confederacy Vampire Captain, Inecea Sufocon, and taken from them as his mistress, the family was torn apart.  Elizabeth was 12 at the time, and suddenly had to fend for herself.  John was 18, and joined the Navy, her father promoted in the Paladins, her younger brother, whom she was very close to, was taken to be raised as a druid.  She spent most of her time at school in the capital, learning politics, and decided to travel to the Capital and become a politician.   She was promoted to Head of Guild Relations for her good management and diplomatic skills.  She became popular for her speaking ability within debate and discussion sessions, and gained a reputation, like much of her family, for remaining calm in situations of high stress.

Religious Views

Elizabeth, as a Capital politician, worships Paylor.  As a Dayern, she knows as a matter of fact that Alfred exists, and is loyal to him.  She, like all those on Dayern who are members of the order or associates, are held in high regard by Alfred, and are guided by nature and watched over by his fatherly heart.

Social Aptitude

Elizabeth is confident,  with excellent manners and social awareness.  Her public speaking is, to say the least, known for its impact. If only she had been able to pass those skills onto her younger brother.  When the two were reunited, they attended the annual festival and feast.  Fenrir was in his druid attire, and remained shy for the evening, sticking close to her.  She was somewhat embarrassed to have the scruffy boy be seen in public with her.  However, her sense of duty as a sister got the better of her.  She had always been very close to Fenrir when they were very young, and there was not a chance in Cresteria, after seven years, that she would pass the opportunity to spend another Festival with him.   "If only we were children again."  -The farewell comment Elizabeth made to Fenrir at the end of the evening.

Mannerisms

Elizabeth is quite approachable, as Fenrir found out again when they were reunited.  She speaks clearly and concisely, as any gentle-lady should.  She is known for her exquisite manners and stout, proud behavior.  A spitting image of her mother, with the stoicism of her father.

Speech

The volume at which she speaks can be changed perfectly from situation to situation.  Her Elvish is near perfect, her common IS perfect.  She almost never swears, only ever in private, is a great believer in simplistic and clear speech, but does not shy away from using some of the most exotic of language and metaphors at her disposal.

History

As young children, Elizabeth played a huge role in her younger brother's first years. She and Lawrence were close, and she saw him as an opportunity to better herself as a more patient, and accepting person. Lawrence equally has fond memories of his sister, and it shows more in his attitude.   Where Elizabeth is Frank with her brother, and shows less affection than she used to, Lawrence was over the moon to have been reunited with her.

Wealth & Financial state

As a government Official, Elizabeth Edgar has made a good living for herself.  She lives comfortably in Doriath and despite her youth, is a well respected official.
