Aerahagen Settlement in Crafting New Lives | World Anvil

Aerahagen (Eh-rahg-en)

This city (population 21,191) was built amongst ancient ruins and is known for its education.   Despite being one of the earliest settlements created in the End, it is still prosperous as is possible in the ancient realm amongst stars.   This city has seen the rise and fall of different community heads, the ascension of the Ender Lord, and the increasing lack of resources over time due to isolation from other realms: due to this storied and ancient history, it serves as a hub of intelligence, resources, and remnants of earlier projects now discontinued.   This city is right outside the end's central island of the dragon's residence, one of the earliest islands to be created, and is home to an extensive library and sprawling museums full of relics and projects long finished.   One of its key draws besides its immediate location is it was the Ender Lord's home city, and xe still have a residence in the area. It is a modest apartment, actually xeir childhood home, though many are unaware of that fact. Xe frequent the city still, often revisiting archives and prior projects for references, reflection, and inspiration. Many love this city for the same reasons, making it a keystone city of travel and research.

City Districts

The city is divided into four districts, three of which are divided into rings with the fourth hovering above the city.

Shorewinds Vale

The outermost ring of the city, this district is filled with farms and mechanisms made to sustain those farms. Named due to the cosmic winds that tend to blow past the city's island.

Inner Aerag

The middle ring of the city, this district is bustling with stores, homes, and a few estates of those leading the city. The buildings here, while not ancient, are still quite old; generational households are the normal living situation. Many buildings have expansions reflecting the time and materials of the age, names and stories scrawled into the stone.

Linksview Plaza

The centermost circle of Aerahagen, this district is home to libraries, archives, and museums, as well as the city's governing bodies. Its buildings are ancient and grandiose, still maintained and looked after to preserve the glory of earlier times. Many buildings have not been remodeled but simply expanded off of, leading to various architectural styles in the same buildings, granted they are large enough.

Spinning Towers

Named for their tendency to shift in the direction of travel, if the island has a destination/landmark to point towards, the Spinning Towers hold the history of the city and the Ender Lord xemself. Each spire is dedicated to either a project or a time frame, and is stocked full of resources. They are tethered to the island with magical chains, all connecting to a singular spot on the governing building in the center of the island; they are arranged in such a way the chains will not cross each other and get tangled.
