Olthotez Ropout (Olt-ho-tess Rop-out)

Geography

The Olthotez Ropout is a ring of asteroids and dwarf planets that orbits beyond the planet Nodum, located at the edge of the Nodum System. There are approximately 2 million asteroids and 7 minor planets located within the Olthotez Ropout. The 7 dwarf planets range in size from 1100km in diameter (Joptel) to 570km (Spealemit), while the asteroids range from a couple hundred kilometres to smaller than a coin.

Natural Resources

Many vital and valuable metals and minerals can be found across all the asteroids, ranging from the shetel used in all types of construction efforts, to hyla ore and, most importanlty, helium-3. Helium-3 is one of the main fuel sources used in Nod-designed spacecraft.

History

The first Nods to visit the Olthotez Ropout were scouts sent by mining companies on Nodum in 3020 BFP. The Bolus Company built the first asteroid mine in 3016 BFP on the minor planet Parcee Coolt, which was renamed Bolus-1. By 2929 BFP, every minor planet had mining colonies on them. However, poor working conditions, corrupt local authorities and rampant black market allowed a flourishing pirate network to also grow alongside the mines. The Olthotez Ensonods proved to be such a threat to the mining companies that they hired the System Protection Company to start providing security to the various settlements, while the Voumkeet-Class Escort Destroyer Baum eaStrosta and Mitshetemble-Class Corvette Alesk guarded large convoys of oreships. Spealemit was abandoned by both the SPC and the mining companies after a prolonged siege that lasted throughout most of 2920 BFP, and it became a haven for the Olthotez Ensonods.
