Ifrin 3, Kyngar (Eye-frin, Kine-gar)
Structure
Like all full strength Frontier teams assigned to Nod Colony Ships, Ifrin 3 had 5 members.
3-1: Borys Osta
The team leader and veteran of the Trade Run Wars, Borys Osta was a keen yet stubborn strategist who found himself redeployed to the field with Ifrin 3 when their Colony Ship first made contact with Kyngar. He disappeared with the rest of the team on their first expedition to the surface of Kyngarmit.3-2: Cultural Anthropologist
The youngest member of Ifrin 3. A newly graduated doctor of cultural anthropology, 3-2 joined the Kyngar expedition for a chance to meet and study alien cultures and people. He was also the only member without military experience prior to the expedition, and choose to carry just a sidearm only because it was a requirement of the Frontier teams. He disappeared with the rest of the team on their first expedition to the surface of Kyngarmit.3-3: Astrobiologist
The Astrobiologist was a big game hunter and zoologist on Nodum. He only hunted animals that were non-endangered, or helped with ethical population control. He also briefly served with the System Protection Company. He disappeared with the rest of the team on their first expedition to the surface of Kyngarmit.3-4: Security Officer
The SO was a member of Sontar's Rangers. A heavy weapons specialist attached to the team for protection, he had no science background, but was more than willing to leave Tiann and explore other systems. He disappeared with the rest of the team on their first expedition to the surface of Kyngarmit.3-5: Mechanic/Pilot
The Pilot was one of the only Krixtooth Whale to join a Nod Colony Ship. She was very keen on the upkeep and upgrading of the team's Single Patrol Transport (SPT), Baumsiggincel. Her remains were found 450 metres east of the recovered SPT. She had died from hypothermia and exposure.Assets
Baumsiggincel
The crew were issued a Single Patrol Transport (SPT, or "Spit"), named the Baumsiggincel. The SPT's power generator was upgraded with Krixtooth technology, allowing it to run off hydrogen instead of Helium-3. Furthermore, a water-breathing system was installed in the ship for the Pilot to hook into and avoid having to wear a watersuit in the ship. Finally, the single bow mounted 15.8x112mm Machine Gun was replaced with a double-barreled 13x110mm Machine Gun with upgraded auto-target computer.Weaponry
Borys Osta, 3-3, and 3-5 carried SAS Model 3405 Assault Rifles. 3-4 carried an SAS Model 3310 SAW, while 3-3 was also issued with a Dorx Raafcel R300 Sniper Rifle. All five scouts carried SAS 6501 Pistols.History
Ifrin 3 was one of 15 Ifrin teams on board the Jopbaut-Class Colony Ship Vinetbaut I. Once the ship arrived in the Kyngar System and uncovered that only the frozen moon Kyngarmit, the single moon around Kyngar, had a gravity and atmosphere that could sustain Nods. Scans of the moon also uncovered a single large, ringed mountain comprised of more Osmium then could be found on all of Nodum. Ifrins 1, 2, 3, and 4 were deployed at points around the mountain in 2834 BFP.
Ifrin 3 were deployed to the far east of the mountain, named Jurriaan Telkrix, to find a potential place for a small command post. After the 3 Typical Days that the teams were given to explore the region passed, only Ifrin 3 didn't report in. Ifrins 1 and 5 deployed to their last known location, and only found the frozen over remains of the Baumsiggincel. 450 metres east of the recovered SPT was the body of the Pilot. No other remains or survivors were ever recovered.
The current theories are that the team were lost in the same blizzard that grounded their SPT, the soldiers were killed by Mallidon, or some combination of the two.
Disbandment
