Krixtooth Whale (Cricks-tooth)
Basic Information
Anatomy
Krixtooth have two bug-eyed eyes resting in sunken eye sockets. A beaked jaw houses a wide smile with 10 long, sharpened teeth on the top jaw, 9 smaller and duller teeth on the bottom, and a small but articulate tongue.
The have Nod-like torsos, with 3 gill pairs that flank each side of their spines, placed over lungs. Its shoulders are narrower than its pelvis. They have long, slender arms, and hands that have 3 long fingers and 1 thumb. Krixtooth legs are skinny and long, each ending in large webbed feet. A large tail protrudes from the base of a Krixtooth's back that ends in a horizontal fluke.
Its body is covered in smooth, hairless skin. The skin will be Blue, Grey, or White depending on which region of Nodum's Splishkrix they are from.
Krixtooth can fold their arms and legs tight to their bodies to help achieve faster speeds when swimming.
Genetics and Reproduction
Female Krixtooth Whales lay 3-5 eggs once every half-decade, cased in an egg purse. A male then fertilizes the clutch, and 20 months later 1-3 of the eggs will hatch. The hatchlings will eat the remaining eggs, and the initial flooding of stem cells and proteins give the young the energy to emerge from the purse and are tended to by both parents until they achieve adulthood.
