Gautama and Ciará

Gautama is very protective of his little sister Ciará and stands between the Sun and his advances upon her. Now Ciará is a precocious one flirting with the sun on a daily basis.

Gautama and Ciará are the moons of Corrigenda. They travel in diametrically opposed orbits, with Ciará travelling inside the orbit of Gautama. Every two hundred fifty to three hundred years they would cause a double eclipse where both would pass in front of the sun simultaneously, causing a double diamond ring effect.   Gautama is the larger of the two and travels in a west to east direction like the sun. He has been seen to chase the sun across the sky. His little sister Ciará travels east to west as if she were trying to play tag with her big brother. The orbits of the two moons are not in perfect alignment and because of this the occurrence of lunar to lunar eclipses only happen once every eight years.

Geography

Gautama is the brighter of the two moons with a silver sheen and beaten surface. Ciará is darker with a coppery red sheen and nearly flawless surface for her brother seems to intercede on her behalf against any who would harm her.

History

It is said that as the world was created Gautama started to chase the sun in hopes of learning how to be brighter and more powerful.  That was until his little sister arrived in the sky and then it was no longer hero worship but an act of protectiveness for he saw how the two flirted.   It was two hundred years from the beginning before Ciará arrived to orbit Corrigenda and from that point on she flirted darkly with the sun, much to her brother's dismay and chagrin.   Since that time Gautama has tried to interpose himself between the Sun and Ciará.
