Bertrand Humboldt
Born into a long line of minor nobility, Bertrand inherited his title young and immediately fancied himself an adventurer, though he never succeeded beyond the planning stage. His duties now involve collecting meager taxes and making grand (but ineffective) speeches. Despite his lack of influence, Bertrand believes the newly opened trade route is his chance to finally establish some form of power in Cormyr.
Overly confident, breathless, and prone to dramatic gestures, Bertrand has the heart of an adventurer but none of the skill or courage. His desire to be seen as important is almost childlike, though his obliviousness often leads to frustration for others.
