Oris Mouth

This is a river port where the Oris River comes to the surface. It features extensive docks and repair facilities to service the river trade. The port facilities are built around three stone basins separated from the river by water gates that can be closed off from the river in the event of attack. Many stone warehouses surround the three basins. The port also includes a thriving slave market which many of the neighboring Kingdoms using as a dumping ground for criminals and prisoners or war. The market has fallen on hard times because the Majaran Empire does not allow slave traffic through it’s territory. As a result, slaves are brought overland from the West, although a few are smuggled in through the Majaran Empire. The town includes inns for housing visiting traders. This is typically the only part of the Kingdom that is open to foreigners, who are not allowed to proceed into the underground section of the river without an invitation from the authorities. Oris Mouth is heavily fortified against attack from both land and water. A long stone bridge crosses the Oris just downstream of the port. The bridge is heavily fortified to prevent hostile river craft from approaching the dockyards. Important buildings in the port include the Customs House, the Citadel and the slave pens.
