Castle Estrea

A former pirate stronghold, this isolated castle is now held by the Marfass Family. Located on a rocky healand projecting into the Northern Ocean, it can only be approached by a narrow, exposed roadway from the mainland. Rocky sea cliffs some 12o' in height line all but the southern approach to the castle which runs along a narrow ridge. To the east of the castle is a sheltered bay lined by sandy beaches. This was formerly used by the pirates as an anchorage for their ships. The castle consists of a large keep on the northernmost point of the headland and two smaller towers and a strongly built gate house featuring a double gate and a portcullis. Extensive dungeons are carved into the rock beneath the castle.

Architecture

The castle is a very plain, utilitarian structure made from light gray stone. The main keep rises some 60' feet in height. The upper 40' of the keep rise out of a hall some 80' by 30'. The remain towers are 30' high with round, conical roofs on the towers.
