Aimée Leclair
The Vampire Pirate Queen of the pirates of The Mutiny
Captain Aimée "Redhair" Leclair (a.k.a. The Anchor Queen)
//Erasmus reporting in. I've arrived in the vicinity of where we last received contact with Skirmish Group Gamma. No sign of them at first glance. //Skirmish Group Gamma's last communication via Aethergraph spoke of a cluster of islands protected by some kind of reef. Can you confirm? //Uh...affirmative, milord. Dozens of - er, no, scratch that - hundreds of islands here. Sharp rock formations just beneath the water's surface, too. //Conclusion? //Rock Formations would pose great risk to more antiquated sailing vessels, but our ships shouldn't have much issue with them. Hostile Contact is more likely. Lots of places to hide. //... //No signs of any detonations, either. Odd. Whatever happened, they never got a chance to fire a shot. Can't see any evidence of sinking, either. //New orders, Erasmus - Ascertain the fate of Skirmish Group Gamma at all costs. //As you say, milord. >>>>> //Sorry for the delay, milord. Erasmus, reporting in. //You have not checked in for a week, Erasmus. Explain yourself. //Long story, sir...I'll, uh, give a full debrief when I return to Lumisterra. For now, I've found Skirmish Group Gamma. Or what remains of it. //Explain. Now. //The islands here are inhabited. Pirates, mostly. They seem to have organized into a coalition under a figure known as "The Anchor Queen". I managed to slip in and do some recon in their capital, Lockanchor. Shanty Town, mostly. It seems this "Anchor Queen" and her pirates are responsible for the attack. //It should not be possible for barbarian pirates to challenge our vessels. Were they boarded? //My first thought too, sir. But, no...apparently this Anchor Queen is a Bloodsucker, sir. A powerful one. She took out the crews single-handedly using some form of unnatural mist the locals call "Bloodsmoke". Captured the ships intact after the crew perished in the smoke after it engulfed the Skirmish Group. I couldn't get much solid intel, but it seems like they've scrapped the ships and stripped them for parts. Rumors say that this Bloodsucker took the Group's Flagship for her fleet. //...assessment? //Not good, milord. They're disorganized, but strong. I've identified a whole host of magical or supernatural vessels here in their ports of call - all dangerous enough to challenge our smaller vessels. A Battle Cluster could crack this place...probably. Their Bloodsucker Queen is an unknown variable - one Bloodsucker, taking on an entire Skirmish Group? It's absurd. She's too dangerous. My recommendation is negotiation, unfortunately. An attack here risks our hold over the Cinderspire Colony. We don't have the resources to spare...do we?" //We do...not. Not for an entire Battle Cluster. //Then, my recommendation is negotiation. Paying them dues is going to get us much further than sending more ships to get scrapped. Better bet would be to put the Inquisitorius on finding a way to oust the Bloodsucker this lot reports to. Too risky to engage until we know more about her and this "bloodsmoke" she employs. //......Very well. Return to Lumisterra for full debrief immediately, Erasmus. I'll send word for a diplomatic envoy to make sail for this reef immediately.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
She is a vampire, meaning she is undead with incredibly strength and versatility. She is short but fit, with a muscular body as a relic from before her vampiric ascension, and since she is dead she has no illnesses or conditions...though she can pass on her Vampiric Curse to others with a bite.
Body Features
With skin as pale as moonlight, eyes that glow with a baleful golden light, and a muscular body of a woman who spent her entire life on the high seas fighting, her skin is muscular but weathered despite her undead nature, and she possesses ample female curves that would classify her as a "Beautiful" woman in life, and even one in death. Often likened to a weathered porcelain doll, she has sharp fangs in her mouth and even deadlier claws from her fingertips. Her hair is a short but beautiful curtain of straight crimuson hair with natural black highlights towards the tips of her hair's ends.
Facial Features
Her face is sharp and long, with long sharp curves and a fanged maw beneath pale lips as well as baleful golden eyes that show her true vampiric nature. Her eyes and face are often covered by her short black hair with reddish highlights near the tips that cascades around her face like a short curtain.
Identifying Characteristics
Her most identifying features are her sharp fangs, baleful golden eyes, and deadly claws.
Special abilities
Being a vampire, her special abilities lie in her ability to suck and drain the blood of those she sinks her fangs into, eventually killing them and raising them as vampiric thralls under her control that she often adds to her crew. She can turn into mist as a vampire can, break another's mind with but a thought combined with her supernatural charisma, climb up and down walls and vertical surfaces, and a myriad of other abilities typical of a vampire.
Most notably, however, is her signature ability which earned her her title..."Bloodmist". Able to summon a massive bank of bloody mist that envelops her ship and all nearby allied ships, this Bloodmist rapidly begins to eat away at the flesh of the living, draining their blood and rapidly turning them into more vampiric thralls under her command...this Bloodmist is incredibly deadly, and while Undead and the similarly Unliving are immune to its effects, its lethality and legacy of terror is such that none dare to challenge her if they count themselves among the living. Even Undead are not fully safe from the mist, however - while they are immune to most of its effects, they become vulnerable to mental domination and the onset of The Soulshivers so long as they remain within the mist.
It is unknown how she summons or controls this mist, but its mere nature and deadly legacy means very few dare to challenge her...though many try to figure out its secrets to hopefully deprive the Bloodsmoke pirates of their most lethal advantage.
Apparel & Accessories
She generally wears thick cloth wrappings to cover her pale but muscular body entirely to hide it from sunlight, but actively refuses to wrap or cover her arms, often tearing the sleeves off the outfits she wears to leave her arms exposed, showing her scars, tattoos for all the world to see as if to spit in the face of her own weakness to sunlight.
She does, however, often have gloves covering her hands that can range from simple colorless hand-gloves to large colorful elbow-length ones(And is rumored to have quite the collection of all kinds), as well as a large tricorn hat famously taken from a Venau Admiral once bent on claiming her bounty. She generally wears a cloth cover over her mouth to hide her fangs. Finally, on days where the sun is especially bright or on special occasions, she will sometimes cover up her arms entirely leaving only her face exposed, but is often loathe to do so.
Specialized Equipment
She generally wears a thin layer of armor beneath her cloth body wrappings for protecting, and while she generally fights with her claws, she does keep two cutlasses at either hip and at least 3-4 ranged weapons on her at any given time.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Born to a long forgotten family within a similarly forgotten coastal town along the western coast of Ea, Aimée Leclair, her birth name long forgotten by her and all others, was kidnapped at an incredibly young age by the legendary pirate Bloody Bart and his crew, the Fleshkraken Pirates. Raised aboard his accursed flagship The Lust and Damnation, she was given her name by the legendary Fleshkraken himself(Supposedly named after one of his many wives who came from a far-off northern land), and trained in the brutal but honorable and strange ways of the Fleshkraken pirates...raised under the strange code of Bloody Bart which declared absolute obedience would give them absolute protection, she quickly proved herself beneath the mast and became First Mate to the Fleshkraken Pirates, second in command of the infinite armada and feared lieutenant of Bloody Bart.
Eventually, though she served with him for decades, she was somehow granted her vampire nature from an unclear source sometime before the fall of The Infinite Amrada...when Bloody Bart was killed and his armada ruined by the combined navies of the east and west, she survived thanks to her vampiric nature and carried on the legacy of the Fleshkraken Pirates, taking the ship granted to her by Bloody Bart himself, The Ladykiller, from the battle and continued on as one of the most feared pirates of the following decades and centuries.
Eventually, she sailed beneath the flag of The Mutiny, and, after decades of service as one of The Mutiny's Seven Sea Emperors, killed the previous Anchor King and replaced him as the Anchor Queen after earning the respect of her fellow Emperors and making a bid for the throne of The Mutiny. Now, she rules the chaotic Mutiny as its Queen, keeping the chaotic pirates and other outlaws in line through fear, respect, and a savvy understanding and desire to protect the true ideals of The Mutiny: Freedom, Independence, and Wealth.
Sexuality
She is well-known as a woman mostly uncaring of hedonistic things, but she is infamous for inheriting her mentor, Bloody Bart's, lascivious love of beautiful women...both for vampiric purposes and personal ones. She is technically undead and cannot reproduce, but her love of beautiful women is such that she is said to have put forth much of her personal wealth into means for her to feel sensations again as if she were alive.
Education
She was taught how to be a true pirate at the hands of Bloody Bart himself, but received no other formal education.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Sacked many towns and cities beneath the banner of the Fleshkraken Pirates, and accomplished just as many feats of conquest and pillaging beneath her own banner as the Bloodsmoke pirates.
Survived the fall of The Infinite Armada and the death of her mentor Bartholomew Redhair.
Killed the previous Anchor King of the Mutiny and replaced him as the chaotic pirate nation's new leader.
Has protected and defended her title from all challengers and comers for the better part of a century or two.
Single-handedly defeated the Iron Warships of a far-off Empire of Iron that came to conquer the Mutiny.
Failures & Embarrassments
Unknown.
Mental Trauma
Unknown.
Morality & Philosophy
So long as she is obeyed absolutely, she will protect and defend all those who pay homage to her, and is forgiving of incompetence an failure so long as it is done in true mistake and they are still loyal to her. To her, obedience and loyalty is more important in her crew than overall power. She cannot forgive incompetence or disloyalty from others, and she has a zero tolerance policy for both, killing those who betray her, think about betraying her, or show themselves as useless or incompetent either as allies or leaders.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
To accumulate more wealth and power.
To protect the independence and freedom of The Mutiny and all who live and pay homage there.
Savvies & Ineptitudes
Good leader, and good at inspiring loyalty in her followers and allies. Good warrior and tactician, and savvy "pirate politician". Has a surprisingly good sense for economics and business dealings which has served her well in her rule over The Mutiny.
She goes to great lengths to hide her ineptitudes from all others and foster the myths and legends surrounding her, so those she has if any are unknown.
Likes & Dislikes
Likes: Loyalty, Fashion, Being rich, Boarding another ship, Power, Her Crew, Getting what she wants, Living for herself, Stargazing, Nighttime, When subordinates admit their mistakes to her, Bartholomew "Bloody Bart" Redair, Keeping the memory of her mentor and adoptive father alive, Any merchandise(Clothes, Hats, Shirts, Etc) relating to Bloody Bart, Collecting Ship Flags, Beautiful Women, Kissing, Romance, Being a Vampire(She no longer has to keep herself clean and tidy), Hats, Gloves, Being Free, The Open Sea, ???
Dislikes: Any force of organized law or government not built upon communal freedom, Acting like a Shut-in to avoid sunlight, Others thinking she's a coward, Altruists, Goody Two-Shoes, Her Vampiric Fangs, Feeling Ashamed of her Vampiric Nature, Being Questioned or Doubted, Betrayal for any reason or of any kind, Others feeling like they can't talk to their captain/supervisor, Others assuming she's going to bite them at every opportunity, The fact her eyes glow now that she's a vampire(It makes closing her eyes an exercise in blinding herself), Biting others with no foreplay, The Venau Necrocracy, ???
Virtues & Personality perks
For all her tempestuous fury, Aimée is a woman who is ultimately fiercely protective of her crew andd forgiving of their failings and flaws so long as they serve her absolutely and unquestioningly - in keeping with the antiquated "Pirate Code of Honor" taught to her during her teenage years by her mentor, Bartholomew Redhair(Better known as the legendary Pirate "Bloody Bart"). Oddly thoughtful and mindful of the future for a Pirate Lord, Aimée is a woman who is not only a fairly competent tactician and suitably cutthroat pirate politician, but is equally charismatic and capable of leading large, incredibly chaotic groups. Ultimately, this skill in knowing how to speak to others without speaking down to them - instead speaking as an inspirational equal or legend to aspire to - is perhaps the most valuable skill for a pirate to have.
Beyond this, her oddly honorable nature extends to the deals and promises she makes - where her hatred for betrayal extends even into her dealings, meaning she will almost never break a deal or promise she has made until others do so first, a trait that has earned her scorn and praise in equal measure from her pirate brethren.
Above all, her greatest virtue(As spoken by her crew) is her stern and icy demeanor when on the job who insists upon hearing all the facts and gathering all the information she possibly can before jumping to conclusions - this informed, methodical nature makes her(By pirate estimations) a delightful captain to serve under for the simple fact that it makes her trustworthy in a way that sailors of all kinds can easily come to love. She will not jump to rash decisions, lash out in anger, or act in foolish petulance - all those who know her can be assured that she will not act until she believes she has properly attained a "neutral" view of the situation and hand so she can act in a way that not only best benefits her, but best benefits her crew or those under her command(A trait that has earned her significant trust amongst her crew and in The Mutiny).
Vices & Personality flaws
For all her virtues, Aimée is a woman of many flaws - perhaps most famously her utter obsession with beautiful women, an obsession she is believed to have inherited from her mentor and adoptive father figure, Bartholomew Redhair(Better known as the legendary Pirate Bloody Bart, and whose last name she has taken as her own middle name and/or title). A vice beloved for both personal and vampiric reasons, Aimée is almost never seen far from a beautiful woman if she can at all help it - either for pleasures of the flesh or for her regular vampiric feedings done behind closed doors.
Beyond this obsession, she is surprisingly light on hedonism - though she is famously greedy in the extreme for both money and power, she cares little for spending it on such hedonistic pursuits and instead relishes collecting both for their own sake.
Perhaps most famously, Aimée is a woman who cannot stand any challenges to her position or her rule - even the merest of accidental insinuations of her cowardice or her unwillingness to leap into action or perform a task she should be able to is enough to earn her personal fury, often followed closely by a hotheaded challenge to combat or some other form of competition. She is a notorious hothead in this one, singular regard compared to her otherwise icy and methodical demeanor - and despite the best efforts of her crew to placate or calm this terrible instinct it has dulled little over her centuries of Unlife, a relic of her time with her mentor Bloody Bart who was known to be equally ferocious when challenged even accidentally. While not quite as bloody as her mentor in resolving such challenges, this habit has nonetheless left many a crewmate bloodied, bruised, and humiliated - and even Aimée herself in a handful of unfortunate circumstances when it has led her into things more dangerous than initially believed.
To this end, Aimée is also known to be a tad too proactive with her hunts for betrayal - often staging semi-elaborate scenarios to test her crew and "allies" loyalty to her in complicated and convoluted ways that sometimes can last months or even years. These schemes, having become somewhat famous amongst her crew and close allies, often border the realms of the insane in terms of their size, scope, and scale. Adding on to this is her own "Zero-Tolerance" policy towards betrayal - while forgiving of accidents, genuine mistakes, or mere incompetence(Though not above punishing such things), Aimée herself is legendarily brutal to betrayers above all else; often executing them on the spot, raising them as undead, torturing them for months or years, making public examples of them, impaling them as living corpses upon her ship's hull, or any number of ruthless torments.
Personality Quirks
Despite her vampiric nature, she resists the natural urge other Vampires follow to cover themselves up completely; instead, while she does take care to cover most of her body and even wrap her mouth and jaw, she often leaves her arms free of covering to display her bare skin, perhaps as a symbol of her defiance of her own nature. She is oddly stubborn about this, and will almost never cover herself up entirely, even if it would otherwise harm her by leaving it exposed.
She has a well-known habit of taking the hats from those she defeats on the high seas, especially from those who come seeking to claim her bounty. If they have no hat, she will likewise take some other article of clothing that perhaps symbolized their station. Similarly, she seemingly enjoys collecting gloves and wearing them, an odd and eclectic habit she most likely picked up from her mentor, Bloody Bart, who was infamous for his obsession with fashion and using it as a means to strike a certain feeling or impression into his foes and allies alike.
Hygiene
Though she is careful to and even enjoys keeping a tidy appearance in terms of her attire and fashion, Aimée is a woman who has become fairly notorious amongst her crew for her hygiene - though she is personally undead and thus lacks any ability to sweat or grow less hygienic over time, her legendary womanizing escapades often mean Aimée herself returns from outings smelling like a dive bar, brothel, perfume shop, and thirty sweating women all at once - all smells that are clues that point to her activities during those very escapades.
Due to this, a fairly popular custom aboard her personal flagship The Ladykiller has seen her crew dousing her with buckets of saltwater when she returns aboard - often seeing her crew take pride in setting up their ambushes in the most unexpected or convoluted traps in order to douse their captain with as much water or saltwater as possible to clean her of the scents and grimes of her escapades since she left(Ambushes which Aimée takes lighthearted glee in uncovering, thwarting, and avoiding)
Social
Reign
All told, Captain Leclair's reign over The Mutiny has been one of, ironically, stability for the chaotic pirate nation - though untold hundreds or even thousands of pirates and their crews have tried to depose her over century-plus long rule over the pirate nation, none have succeeded; Each challenger falling victim to the fearsome "Redhair Leclair" in one way or another.
Indeed, while her reign was storied even before the current Age of Godsfall and the calamities of the Age of Troubles before it, Captain Leclair's reign has become legend during those Chaotic Times and in the years since - where she has not only held onto her rule over The Mutiny, but expanded her influence across much of the planet of Ea as a whole; a Pirate Queen so powerful that those who plunder and pillage, no matter where they may be, are rumored to be never more than a scant three steps removed from Captain Leclair and her fearsome Bloodsmoke Pirates.
Having fended off all manner of militaries of continental nations of Corexus, Inara, and beyond and now having outlasted all of them, Captain Leclair's reign is one of terror and brutality sharpened to a scalpel's edge - where those who tow the line beneath her are given riches beyond comprehension while those who strive to take her place are given naught but an early grave. Now, heralded as "The Second Coming of Bloody Bart", she is almost single-handedly responsible for the modern-day pirate resurgence across the oceans of Ea.
Contacts & Relations
As the Anchor Queen of The Mutiny, she claims "rule" over all the pirates in the waters of central and western Ea as well as in the World's End Ocean...however, this "rule" she claims is not a true centralized one, and more a general overseer role that sees all pirates recognize her as the current greatest among them, and the one they pay homage to and loosely follow the rule of to maintain their precious freedom in The Mutiny. They respect her and obey her "laws", but are still highly individualistic and protective of personal freedoms, as pirates tend to be...she is their current Anchor Queen, and as such governs The Mutiny and leads it in its chaotic, anarchic rule as well as protecting its freedoms and independence from other nations.
She also commands the fealty of the "Seven Sea Emperors", the seven greatest pirate lords that operate in the world which each pay homage to her as the greatest among them and Anchor Queen of the mutiny...the Seven Emperors are her eyes, ears, and most loyal servants, each notable and legendary pirates on their own who dock at The Mutiny and work to maintain the careful shared chaos and fragile balance of power that keeps it functional. Knowing it is better to get along and resist a common conquerer than fall to in-fighting, the Seven Emperors command the respect of all other pirates and follow the few loose laws of the Mutiny to keep the country together and united beneath the chaotic rule of the Anchor Queen, to ensure all who dwell there maintain their freedoms and chaotic whimsy to come and go as they please...so long as the few laws of The Mutiny are obeyed, all else goes.
She is also well-known by most navies, coastal towns, and lords and kings of coastal nations...though she is wanted, many seaside towns will break the laws of their own nation to make deals with her when her Armada appears on the horizon. Better to give her what she wants, they believe, than provoke her wrath. Though navies hunt her zealously, the lethal Bloodsmoke she commands makes her a most lethal foe only the navies of The Venau Necrocracy would dare engage.
Family Ties
As a vampire, she has lived for centuries as an undead pirate queen...though she has only recently become Anchor Queen of The Mutiny, she is not known to have any existing family tied to her by blood or kinship. Instead, she is infamous for being the last living relic of the Fleshkraken Pirates, the legendary pirate crew led by Bloody Bart that terrorized almost all the known world and united the East and West in their hatred for him. Raised on his cursed personal ship and the head of the infinite armada, The Lust and Damnation, she was raised alongside Bloody Bart and his Fleshkraken Pirates, soon rising to become the first mate and the only true family she had was Bloody Bart himself.
Having survived the extermination of the Fleshkraken Pirates and the destruction of the Infinite Armada through her vampiric nature, she has no living family or friends aside from the rare veteran of the Fleshkraken Pirates who have survived the intervening centuries.
Religious Views
Unlike many pirates, she does hold a strong belief in religion...mainly, she is one of the greatest living faithful of Whitecoat, The Dread Pirate. She does not pray, however, and like most pirates she pays homage to Whitecoat through her actions, offering up entire ships, entire crews, and tons of gold and loot to the pirate god. She views them as the pinnacle all pirates should aspire to be, and as a sort of "Ultimate Captain" all pirates should pay homage to.
Social Aptitude
She is naturally charismatic as a vampire, and combined with her long centuries of serving as the captain of a deadly Pirate Crew, The Bloodsmoke Pirates, and as the first mate of the legendary Fleshkraken Pirates, she has an incredibly well-honed sense of leadership beneath the mast...deadly, brutal, cutthroat, and cunning beyond her ageless years, she is a woman who rules through a mixture of awe, respect, and terror. Well-versed in pirate politics and more than capable of betrayal and backstabbing to get her way, she is legendary for learning of her enemies plans before they do, and holds no qualms of betraying and backstabbing her closest allies if it benefits her.
She is well-known for her cunning social aptitude, and her adamant philosophy that so long as she is obeyed unconditionally, her crew and allies need never fear her wrath...a motto inherited from Bloody Bart himself, who was well-known for his odd sense of pirate honor that attracted many dozens to him, eager to serve him out of his well-known ways of only displaying his ruthlessness to those who dared betray him. So long as she is served faithfully, obediently, and well, she is fine to forgive failure so long as it was done in true mistake, or in the pursuit of serving her.
These aspects make her an incredibly odd pirate captain, and has contributed to her large following and massive armada, who follow her out of a supremely strong sense of loyalty, seeing her as a mother or matriarchal figure of sorts who will go to hell and back to protect them so long as they serve her absolutely...and to her enemies, she is a manipulative, backstabbing tyrant who seems near omniscient to their plans, learning and springing their traps before they can even plant them. Thus has she remained in power as the Anchor Queen for many centuries.
Mannerisms
When not provoked, she is cold and often comes off as uncaring, giving commands dispassionately and standing silently, showing no emotion until the very last moment where she is angered. When angered, she is brutal, wrathful, and quick in her vengeance, allowing herself no room to let her fury cloud her judgement as she coldly plots to undo those who have wronged her.
To those who know her and serve beneath her faithfully, they know well that her cold facade hides a true care for her crew and loyal servants, and in time her crew and allies learn to recognize the subtle facial cues that signify her mood.
Speech
She speaks with a muffled, quiet cadence as she often has a cloth wrapping around her mouth and jaw to hide her vampiric fangs. She speaks curtly, quickly, and to the point.
Wealth & Financial state
As the Anchor Queen of The Mutiny as well as one of the most notorious pirates alive in the world today, she has amassed a massive amount of personal wealth from both her nighttime raids of traveling vessels along the waters near the mutiny and beyond and her rule of The Mutiny itself, which earns her a portion of all treasure earned from the numerous pirate crews that fly The Mutiny's colors. She is rumored to have amassed enough wealth during her centuries of undead piracy to rival small nations, and though she is wanted with a bounty across countless nations that averages in the realm of hundreds of thousands of gold, she has evaded capture and collection for centuries, killing and draining all who dare to pursue her of blood and adding them to her crew as vampiric thralls...while the more powerful ones are turned into true vampires bent to her will and made captains in her ever-growing undead armada.
She is most wanted by the forces of Venau, who loathe The Mutiny and have sought to destroy it ever since its founding centuries ago, but they have so far been unable to collect on her bounty and kill her permanently...her vampire nature lets her return from death, frustrating all who try to deal with her.
