Aesrit Hraelna Character in Corexus | World Anvil

Aesrit Hraelna

The aging Matriarch of Malhara

Empress Aesrit Hraelna (a.k.a. The Cragtop Queen)

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Like many Sandskin Dai-Yukai, she is a towering wall of muscle and power whose body remains in almost peak physical conditions despite her age. Also like many of her kind, she shows signs of former addiction to insidious drugs such as Bluemarrow and Feyvein, AKA "Silver Paradise", likely forced upon her by her former slaver masters...this former addiction causes her constant pain and has damaged her body internally, but she shows little outward sign of it.

Identifying Characteristics

Most identifying is her blood-red skin and demonic horns which jut from her forehead as well as the sharp red bone-spikes that jut from her shoulders, all of which are hallmarks of being a Sandskin Dai-Yukai, which are altogether incredibly rare in The Eastern Imperium.

Special abilities

Like all Sandskin Dai-Yukai, she is capable of generating hurricane force winds along with buffeting blasts of sand that soon form into a sandstorm...her sandstorm aura is said to be especially strong, and is a thing feared by many of her foes as a thing which can and has easily knocked them off of the mountaintop cliffs before. She is said to be able to teleport herself across vast distances by jumping from tall enough heights, and can even crash through planar boundaries this way as well.   Like other of her kin, her feet alone are deadly weapons...especially after she has lavishly spent money on making them even deadlier with specialized boots that allow her to flatten even buildings when she so wishes...to say nothing of creatures of flesh and blood. However, she is said to render her foes unconscious with this trampling and her attacks mostly, preferring to take them back to Malhara and enslave them so she may profit off her foes.

Apparel & Accessories

She almost never is seen wearing anything non-protective and practical, often sleeveless due to the spikes on her shoulders which shred and scrape against armor she might wear. She has adorned her forehead horns with jewelry, and wears many rings, necklaces, and has inlaid her armor and clothing with dozens of beautiful inlays of various precious metals.

Specialized Equipment

She generally wears leather armor over a metal breastplate, and wields a titanic two-handed greatsword in battle. Both are decorated lavishly and are fit for a greedy queen.

Mental characteristics

Sexuality

She prefers women to men, but acknowledges that they are required to produce heirs and children.

Education

Before she brutally beat and enslaved him in a dramatic twist of irony, she was supposedly taught of many topics and the value of greed and the profit to be made off of one's foes by her former Owner during her life as a slave.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Breaking out of her life of slavery with her own two hands and hitching a ride across the Emerald Sea on a boat bound for The Matriarchy of Malhara, She landed in the matriarchy and, awestruck with the freedom afforded to her in this new country, immediately set out to explore her new home.   Eventually she was taken in by the largely Dai-Yukai Major Noble House within the Noble Lands, House Hraelna. Taken in by the lady of the house, she spent the next decades serving her newfound mother, learning the cutthroat ways of her new home and honing her greed and sense for personal gain in the backstabbing political landscape of The Eastern Imperium. Eventually, she was named successor to the Lady of the House, and though it outraged many other members of the house who claimed she had manipulated the late Lady into naming her heir, Aesrit took the seat of House Hraelna and wasted no time purging the disloyal elements from it, selling them discretely into slavery in flagrant violation of the laws of the land...though the Kitsune Council fined her for her crimes, her rivals had already been sent far afield overseas.   Soon, she returned to the city in which she arrived to the East, and using The Matriarchy of Malhara's power-based system of government, she bought off the allies of the then-Matriarch and brutally and publicly dueled her and won, locking her in chains and selling her to the slavers who visited the city as she took the throne of The Matriarchy of Malhara. Ever since, she has ruled with an iron fist, crushing and selling those who dare rise against her into slavery to profit off them while providing a firm guiding hand to lead the country into greatness. She has greatly increased the profits of her new lands, and has expanded their territories and infrastructure...though she has greatly worsened the country's relations with the The Ursidae Dynasties.

Failures & Embarrassments

She admits to no failures or embarrassments, and presents herself as faultless.

Morality & Philosophy

To her, nothing is considered off-limits in the pursuit of power, wealth, and success. She will do anything it takes to succeed and achieve her goals, and will break and enslave any who dare stand in her way. She believes everything has a price, and has no qualms buying off potential foes rather than deal with them personally. She has almost no moral compunctions or qualms, and has no philosophy aside from profit and personal gain. She sees her subjects and the entire nation as her property, and believes that nothing should be forbidden in the defense and expansion of one's property...the sole exception to this is, of course, drugs and narcotics.   She has an almost obsessive hatred for them, and is infamous across the entire Eastern Imperium for her absolutely barbaric treatment of those she finds dealing in Narcotics or Drugs of any kind...they are the sole exception to her normal compunction to take her foes alive, and she prefers to torture and mutilate them, publically if possible, and enjoys forcing them to become addicted to their product before brutally slaughtering them and any of their associates.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Dreams to accumulate ever-more wealth and power. Wants to expand her country and her profits both.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

Excellent Warrior and Manipulator. Good with money and business acumen. Poor at dealing with crises or issues that will not directly affect her personal profits or property, or doing anything for reasons other than clear gain.

Likes & Dislikes

Likes power, money, being in control, being feared, increasing her profits and property, enslaving her foes and profiting off their loss and pain.   Dislikes drugs, empathy, religion, Sandskin Dai-Yukai, weakness, and cowardice.

Virtues & Personality perks

Has an amazing talent for using her natural wisdom to predict the actions of her foes and the course the future is likely to take, which makes her an amazing leader. Has a great business acumen despite her cruelty, and knows how to expand a country or one's holdings efficiently and well. Knows exactly what to say to persuade others and manipulate them, and knows how to present herself and put on masks to make herself more likable in public. Is an incredibly talented warrior.   Notably, she absolutely refuses to allow drugs anywhere inside her country, no matter how valuable they are or how much she could profit off their selling and distribution. She actively crushes and kills those who try to sell or distribute them to her citizens or even the slaves residing there, no matter how important or valued a customer they are of hers. She does care for and make sure her slaves are all healthy and in as good as condition as they can be at all times, and though this is most likely motivated entirely by greed to make them as valuable as possible, others still see this as a positive aspect of hers.

Vices & Personality flaws

Completely lacks empathy for anyone other than herself, and is completely self-absorbed and egotistical. Incredibly greedy and driven by a lust for power and wealth. Not entirely loyal or faithful to Tamamo-No-Mae, The Kitsune Queen, and is only loyal to her as a figure she idealizes and aspires to be one day. Will let horrible atrocities befall her country and people only to make herself look better when she solves them.

Hygiene

She tends to beautify herself with exotic oils and health care products imported from overseas, making herself look as clean and beautiful as possible to satisfy her own immense ego. In accordance with this, she keeps a similarly pristine and obsessively fastidious environment and house, and often demands Slaves do the same with themselves.

Social

Contacts & Relations

As the leader of The Matriarchy of Malhara, she is keenly affiliated with both the Daimyo and the Shogun of The Ursidae Dynasties as well as the posh nobles of the Noble Lands...she is well-connected with many nobles and Daimyo in both countries, and her house is based out of The Noble Lands as well, so she considers it her second home.   She has very poor relations with The Ursidae Dynasties, as she tends to abuse her privilege granted to her by Tamamo-No-Mae, The Kitsune Queen to capture soldiers and citizens of The Ursidae Dynasties under the pretense of conscripting them into their armies...though many assume she does so only to profit off their secret subsequent enslavement.

Family Ties

She is the head of her house, and has many relatives and children who dwell mainly within The Noble Lands, far to the north. Her daughter Astrid is even a member of the prestigious Kitsune Council, the ruling body of The Eastern Imperium.

Religious Views

She is not so zealous a follower of Tamamo-No-Mae, The Kitsune Queen as other lords of The Eastern Imperium, but she professes a passive belief in her ideals...however, her flagrant enslavement of creatures of all races and walks of life tends to run counter to her teachings and faith...a fact which most quietly ignore out of fear of their capture and slavery at her hands.   Because of this, she is often at near-constant friction with the Grand Holy Matron of Malhara, the leader of the country's church, who sees her habit of enslaving others as a grave sin against Tamamo-No-Mae, The Kitsune Queen.

Social Aptitude

Much to the chagrin of her foes and allies alike, Aesrit is an incredibly charismatic and manipulative leader whose Ego is said to be as towering as her muscular body. She believes herself without peer in many fields, and boasts almost constantly that she could persuade a room full of her enemies to kneel before her and accept their deaths willingly if she so chose...and while this claim has not been verified, her immense beauty, strength, and wisdom lends her an almost supernatural charisma that disarms and charms those she speaks to despite their hatred towards her.

Hobbies & Pets

Has no animal pets, but she keeps a cadre of the finest slaves that have graced the ports of her capital city for amusement, symbols of her status, and protection.

Wealth & Financial state

Having lead the strength-focused Matriarchy for several decades now despite her aging body and having revolutionized the slavery industry within the country with her ingenious new ideas and brutally callous laws to make the importing, exporting, and caring for slaves much cheaper and easier, she has grown immeasurably wealthy and lined her pockets with the blood of a dozen species, including her own. She is notorious for being incredibly selfish with her money, and spends a great deal of money on personal luxuries for herself as well as on new and innovative ways to increase her profits. Luckily, this greed happens to coincide with improving her country's facilities and general wellbeing, but many assume that if she saw a chance to profit off the suffering of her country, she would do so without hesitation.
