Prime Minister Annette Jones

Annette Jones is in her forties but doesn’t look it. Her skin is white and unwrinkled, her hair short, blonde, and straight. She wears oversized glasses which, on someone her age would make it look like she’s trying too hard, but nonetheless work on her. She tends to cut a demure figure in British politics which isn’t wholly unexpected.

Personal history

Annette Jones rose to power in the Liberal-Democrat party . Following a huge collapse after they propped up David Cameron’s Conservative Party (backtracking on a number of their campaign promises), Jones was able to rally enough support to oust Nick Clegg, along with a lot of his major supporters and regain the trust of voters. Prime Minister David Cameron’s put forward a referendum on leaving the EU; the Lib-Dems, along with Labour, campaigned and soundly defeated it. Cameron lost the confidence of the house and an election was called, with the Lib-Dems winning a majority government.
Her victory was more or less a miracle, given how poor support had become for them, and a lot of people — perhaps sexistly in that it assumes the two are somehow related — attribute a lot of her success due to her being seen as the UK’s answer to President Delores Keaton. While the latter seems quite overtly powerful and sexual, Jones seems to be a lot less threatening. While one seems explicitly and unabashedly American — the best and worst that that implies — Jones is seen to embody the best of British, whatever that is.
Jones has, however, been having more and more problems and has not been able to fare with the global cooling as well as Keaton has.
Keaton and Jones are often seen — at least by popular media — as “gal pals” who are uniting to solve the world’s problems, and this can be seen in the country’s having been more united than ever. Nonetheless, Jones is less willing to join in Keaton’s military campaigns.
Jones is unmarried, but has a longtime partner in singer/songwriter Grace Martin.
