Breakwater Port

Demographics

The port town is a mixture of species from across the Primal Wilds. With visitors ranging from the from the Warforged of the more technologically focused Cineburn to the elusive Grung of the jungles of the south, odds are that if you want information from around the world this is the place to find it.

Government

The port is run by a Dark Fae merfolk family that has ruled the port for generations. The latest ruler is Lady Llyr who is often seen as a cold and logical woman. Her consort is Lord Romulus who was an adventurer with the Marauders. He is favored by the people but the aristocrats despise him. They have a young daughter Lady Tidal.

Industry & Trade

Most of the inhabitants of Breakwater Port have jobs that revolve around trade and tourism. The main assets of this port are the well established docks for both water and air crafts. It has many taverns and businesses targeted to travelers, sailors and merchants, such as the Drunken Whale and Elasatra's Exquisite Emporium.

History

A relatively young port, Breakwater was established as a settlement in 436 by the survivors of Faycairn. They were a small fishing village for several decades until the local hero Wine ventured forth to make his name known throughout the region. The influx of tourism allowed for the small village to accumulate enough population and wealth to become an essential trading post for the region. Since then it has only grown into one of the most diverse and affluent cities of the continent.

Architecture

The architecture and construction materials of the buildings within the port city vary from ward to ward based on age and wealth of the citizens. For example, the Awer Keep is constructed from marble and has magnificent glass windows whereas the buildings outside the city walls are constructed of straw and mud. The poorer area where the sailors and small time merchants reside have buildings that are constructed from grey clay where the middle class merchants have homes and stores of wood from the Wandering Woods. The wealthy merchants have homes made from sandstone with red staccato tiled roofs.

Geography

Most of the city is located along the rocky shoreline and within the sturdy sandstone walls. However, the Keep where the ruling family reside and have court is located on top of a bluff that is either accessible via a wooden elevator (which requires a permit to ride) or circling around the bluffs.
