The Obsidian Throne

The Obsidian Throne is an artifact hidden beneath Nekhet Ezir, located in a dormant magma chamber nearly one mile below the fortress. The stone within has been carved and sculpted into a tiered ziggurat, atop which stands a throne carved from pure obsidian with a twenty-foot (six-meter) back marked with conjuration runes written in Ezirandi.   The Obsidian Throne sits at a nexus between the Material Plane and the Penumbra, where the boundaries of the two are thin enough to allow passage. It is this nexus that powers the Obsidian Throne and its twin within the Penumbra.   The Throne was created by Eclipse, upon his return to Solia as Sennebma Abid as a door between the planes, should his magic fail him.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

A spellcaster who sits upon the Obsidian Throne may cast conjuration spells with improved efficacy, duplicating the Quicken Spell, Silent Spell, Still Spell, and Augmented Summoning feats. Any teleportation spells cast resolve with perfect results. Any spellcaster that has utilized the Obsidian Throne gains the Tenebrous Spell feat for one month.   The Obsidian Throne also augments planar travel, allowing any spellcaster who sits upon it to travel to the Penumbra at will. Alternate planes may be reached, reducing the destination variance of plane shift and similar spells to 5d% feet, instead of miles.
