Firemage
Firemages are a type of Elemental Mages that have the ability to create and control fire. They are immune to their own flames and are highly resistant to fires from other sources as well as dry heat in general.
Anatomy
Average Physique
In general, Firemages tend to be slim, much like other elemental mages, especialy if they use magic regulary. That is because using magic necessitates the creation of large quatities of Mana, which requires a lot of energy from the body. This expense of energy largely prevents the body from storing much fat.Ear Shape
As they grow from a child to an adult, their ears grow longer and slimer, and distinctly not Humans, like all other Elemental mages. It results in them having very slighly better hearing than regular humans, and a distinct and easily identifiable trait, but not much else.Eye Colour
During their long life, their eyes will change colour from the original one they had at birth and their early life to a fiery red colour. The more they use their abilities and the more powerful these abilities are, the faster their eyes will change colour.Mana Core
Like other elemental mages, firemages are born with a small special organ located just above the heart, called a mana core. These cores are able to generate mana, keep it as a reserve and absorb wild mana called Nexurium into it by tapping into the mana contained around them. Firemages can absorb wild mana from any flames or embers. The core is also connected to their soul, which is what allows them to use magic in the first place. The organ stores energy, and that energy is transformed into mana by the soul. How exactly this mechanism works is unknown, but it was famously exploited by the Sokralic cult when they created SoulstonesBasic Information
Growth Rate & Stages
Biological
Firemages, like all other Elemental mages, grow up at the same rate as a normal human and acheive adulthood at 16 years old in most Hysalian cultures. The growth of their magic ability during their childhood and teenage years affects their physical appearance, specificaly their ears and eyes, which physicaly distinguishes them from regular humans. For the ears, most of these changes occur between ages 15-25, but can begin or end a bit sooner or later. Some cultures argue that mages truly do not acheive adulthood until these changes are complete, but most reject that reasoning.Magical
Firemages are known to exibit magic abilities far sooner than most other elemental mages. Some babies can manifest their abilies as soon as a 1 week old, but it generaly takes a year or two before the first signs are observed. It then truly begins to manifest and be useful during early puberty and usualy happens sooner for girls rather than for boys. In both case, their abilities slowly become stronger during their teen years, until they reach around 15 years old, where the rate of growth increases a lot until about age 18, where it then begins to slow down again before stopping at age 30, where they finaly reach their full baseline strenght. They will keep that level until about 70 years old, where it will begin to steadely decline until death.Civilization and Culture
Naming Traditions
In the Ak'aaran Confederation, it is custumary to give a mage child 2 first names. One is given at birth and the other is given once the child reaches 16 years old, which is when they receive a title based on their elemental type and officialy become adult. In the case of a firemage, the title is "Kailen" which means "Born into Fire". It is the most prestigious elemental title in the Arakan culture.
Beauty Ideals
Like Most Elemental Mages, firemages value their distinghuishing traits. Redder eyes and longer ears are a sign of strenght and power, and are thus valued greatly amongst them.
Common Etiquette Rules
On the Continent of Enaskia and in western Arros, it is custumary that when two firemages meet, they clasp their hands together and suround both with mutual fire. This is done as a show of respect and fraternaty. Failing to do so, or hesitating for too long before doing it is considered rude and disrespectful.
