The Emerald Spires
The Towers. The Old Green. These are The Spires before The Shallows and Sea of Ghosts, above the Effluvial Grove, that stretch like coastal shelves, but long before the sea. The Spires are echos of a time when the ocean lapped at their crowns, though now has sank long past their feet.
Legends surround this ancient place: it is where where enemy troops were routed; it is where leviathans go to die; and is where a couples committed their love to each other which made The Spires to be welcoming to those with love in their hearts and a deadly maze to those without.
Geography
The Spires are like coastal shelves, but far too inland to be considered such. Each Spire is unique due to its overall composition of sedimentary rock which erodes at varying rates. This gives The Spires unique appearances and their upright structure. However, Spires have some common characteristics, such the space between each spire, a common width, and an overall height depending on region. The Spires as a collective rise to an altitude starting at 1,262 meters near The Spine Mountain range and drops to 465 near the Stone Coast . This spans over a 230 kilometer diameter, including some of The Shallows.
Each spire hosts several kinds of flora and fauna populations, and sometimes, though rarely, species. In each spires's case, it is interconnected through the root system of the old growth trees, among these being Bosis and Philemon which have a few genetic decedents within The Spires themselves. These roots serve to keep much of the toxic fumes of the Effluvial Grove below the initial root layer of the old growth. This effectively traps a great deal of heat at the base of the Spires. Where there are spaces for a great deal of heat to escape, it creates thermal updrafts that will occasionally pick up the fertile dirt below and place it back on The Spires, perpetuating a cycle of erosion and fertilization. The ground in The Effluvial Grove is fertile due to the extreme abundance of mushrooms under the root-cover.
The Yottuq River feed a great needed amount of water to the Spires and Effluvial Grove. Because it is a glacial river, it further pushes the hot air up through the root-cover of the Spires.
Fauna & Flora
Flora
Two of the oldest kinds of trees within The Spire are both the Bosis and Philemon Trees. These particular plants ((really resemble the red creek fir, and I am working on a scientific name rn))Fauna
I'd like a fuzzy mountain goat/Cattle here, Enfields, and that's it for now. SwallowsNatural Resources
You get coal from MTs, diamonds under those mountains, ruins that have stuff and old machinery, so scrap, lumber from trees, and an abundance of foragables. Poor farmland though. Good amount of ranches though.
