The Crown City
The rich rule here, capitalistic and cutthroat, for the appeal of wealth here is that you don't rule people, you rule assets, and they do the work for you.
The issue here is that while the thought of social mobility is spoken of with some amount of idealistic reverence, it is, on the whole, a farse. What keeps the people from revolting is that the quality of life may be better here than all other places, while the city stays in place. For while it settles on a piece of land and it flourishes, the city stays and collects settlements around it, but when it begins to wither, the city activates its mortal coil of an engine, rises, and leaves to find greener ground.
As such, the true issue here is that the old money of those with hereditary wealth have stayed in charge since the founding of the city itself, in most regards. By encouraging competition and struggle, and with the looming threat of the city being able to leave with its rulers, many people are willing to put up with the conditions, the overcrowding, the spying, the crime. The issue is never with the infrastructure of the city, but the infrastructure of the soul that this city encourages.
And it worsens. This city is a relic of the past, one that The Old Ones built before for purposes in memorium. Skeletons are still found in the walls, which are rumored to bleed when demolished.
Structure
They are the Golden Tier of society, they who control everything in the city and hear everything. To be invited to their court is an honor, but those who are called for rarely leave their abode, or so the rumors go.
The Halcyons
As on the flag on the Crown City, there are seven ruling families, each with a namesake that denotes some of their power:- Rosemark have split pupils that pattern in the shape of a rose. Pearlmouth boast white lips and a completely white mouth Blacknail care for their long nails, dipped black and gnarled. Blueblood are the oldest family, deathly pale with blood that is said t cure any wound. Veilfire cover their countenance and are the only family that have ever attempted to destroy the obelisks in The Summoner's Circles. Brightburns glow with a radiance otherwordly to the city and world in which they reside. Goodall are very plain looking, but they get along with everyone; no one dislikes them.
