In one night, as most historians would later realise, the world was changed forever. A great light danced on the sky that eve, in all the colours of the world, and countless destinies were tangled together.

Full description later.   The Great Aurora was such a massive and impactful event that several centuries later, during the reformation periods, the members of the Alliance agree to change their system for keeping time. Now, as per Standard Reckoning, this event is Year 0, with the current era regarded as After the Great Aurora (AGA) and everything prior to it as Before the Great Aurora (BGA).
