(Catch) Whisker Runners

Me: yo I need something for the catch prompt.

Brain: Rabbits have no knees.

Me: Yes they d- oh now I got an idea.

Whisker Runners are distant relatives of rabbits that are way, way faster than rabbits. This combines with their ability to produce 10 bunnies each month (who can be weaned off of milk within 3 weeks and basically take care of themselves after that) to make them perfect for sport hunting.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Their ears go flat whenever they run for them aerodynamics and their back legs are truly massive to the point where their front legs look like cursed arms.Their eyes don't go as far to either side so they have more depth perception that they use while running through obstacle-loaded areas.

Genetics and Reproduction

Polygamous with niether males nor females being selective beyond avoiding those with obvious deformities so most natural selection is based around the literal "does it escape the fox?" than "does she think his long legs are long enough?". Females give birth in mere days of impregnation and are ready to be impregnated again mere hours after giving birth... what utter badasses.

Growth Rate & Stages

The young take 3 weeks before they can take care of themselves but need a further 7 months to become adults. After that they've got around 4 years of being healthy and able to breed. A further 2 years and they're dead from age. At all points they're constantly getting eaten but this is more pronounced as younglings and when elderly.

Ecology and Habitats

The rolling grasslands of Continent C on Terra 3... which are full of various predators that use these rabbits as a food source. Notable is that ambush tactics aren't as pronounced as by Earth's predators, so there's more of a chase element involved that encouraged speed.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Will eat pretty much anything plant-based. Immune to most poisons.

Biological Cycle

Their natural habitat only has a wet and dry season, with them not actually doing anything differently in either as natural selection doesn't mind 80% of the species dying off every year when it can still grow in number despite that.

Incredible hearing, not very good eyesight, brilliant sense of smell.

Conservation Status

Yeah anything that produces 10 young every month doesn't need protection.
